Good News For American Road Racing?
Posted by: redbirds_imp - 09-03-2014, 12:45 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - No Replies

Motorcycle road racing in the US has been on the decline of late. Most of the factory backed teams are gone and attendance is down. When DMG took over the AMA professional racing series it was hoped that there would be a return to full grids and attendance but this never happened. Now the AMA is taking control of the series again. I hope they get it right this time.

Hello, does anyone know if the k and h seat is waterproof. I ride in the rain a lot. Are the seats all leather or can you get them in vinyl? Are leather seats waterproof? Thanks.

Got this from Honda after I purchased my last bike. Anybody else ever get anything?

  WM Chain Guard
Posted by: CB4ME_imp - 09-03-2014, 07:55 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

Mr T says this is the first WM chain guard he sold. (I bought it as soon as he posted it).

http://www.samurider.com/?p=20019/#itemImage

It took 3 weeks for Takashi to get it from WM, including a one week national holiday, and 3 days to arrive in my mailbox.

Here is a quick and dirty picture of the WM and my Plot chain guard http://www.samurider.com/?p=13292/#itemImage . Plot is Honda’s official aftermarket chain guard.

Both guards are made of steel. The Plot is chromed and the WM is polished stainless steel.

The WH is a close copy of the chain guard on one of Ryujin’s café style CB1100s.

I’ll be posting the Plot for sale soon if anyone is interested. It lists for 120,000 yen and with shipping runs about $140 US. I’ll be looking for $75 including shipping to the continental US

  Trigger Finger

...and it's not even a firearms thread!

Curious to know who among us has had to deal with riding injuries that were not related to a crash. I'm talking about things like tendonitis, repetitive stress injuries, etc. - not monkey buttSmile.

After a summer of 3000+ miles of mostly city riding (read: lots of clutch work) I have developed a soreness and clicking in my left index finger that was diagnosed as "trigger finger" - one of the many flavors of tendonitis that comes as a result of overuse or injury.

I'd like to know if others have dealt with this and what worked for you vs the medical recommendation of a cortisone shot that may or may not be a long-term fix.

  Racks and Top Cases comparisons
Posted by: holy666diver_imp - 09-03-2014, 06:17 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (5)

I've been looking into adding a rack and top case for trips and to act as a back rest for my fiancé. What is the better buy rack and top box wise Givi or Hepco & Becker? Seems you can get this setup for cheaper than the Corbin seat plus backrest. Looking for an easy on off option so I can take the case off when I am riding solo

Also if anyone has images of what it looks like installed i'd love to check it out!

  A question about modifications
Posted by: gossman_imp - 09-03-2014, 03:08 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (2)

So, reading all the mods here and wondering if people wait until after their warranty ends prior to modifying or just do the mods i.e. ECU flash, pipes, etc... and hope the warranty isn't affected?

I'm never been much of a mod person, can't think of any mods i have done besides perhaps bending the baffles a little on another bike for a little more sound in my younger days or changing out the front sprocket on a Honda 3 wheeler for lower gearing. Anymore, biggest mod for me is getting a windscreen or a tank bag. But I do like reading about all the stuff you all do to your rides, would like to hear the results of such after a few years to see if they damaged the ride.

Need help with Givi SR1118 install
Posted by: pedro_k_imp - 09-03-2014, 02:34 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (13)

Hi friends,
I just got my first Honda in years. The CB 1100 Deluxe - and it is fantastic!
I purchased a Givi SR1118 rear rack. The supplied mounting instructions are vague to say the least. I cannot get it to line up in the front and rear holes left after removing the tail light assembly bars. Has anyone installed one?
After a few emails with customer service at Givi, they are telling me that I'm basically a dope, and that it should fit easily. If anyone can provide an explanation, or photos of a correct install I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks very much!
PK

PS - if you know of an alternative to the Givi, other than the Honda OE please tell me.

  running with a classic

Went for a 50 mile ride tonight among the twisty back roads with a neighbor. He rode his '82 Suzuki GS1100G that he has owned since it was new. Over 100,000 miles and it's still running strong. I've always been impressed with that bike in the 21 years I've lived next to him, he has fone a banged up job keeping it on the road. I'm pretty pleased with the way the CB did on the short trip, plenty of power for this fat old guy!
