As I look around at these bikes, there are a lot of 13s around for discounted rates. However, I am patient, and have a buy once, cry once philosophy with machines.

So, do you guys with 13s carry too many RPMs on the highway? Do you 14ers use 6th gear?

Have any of the fellow CB owners added lights to the front of there bike? I have been thinking about it. If you did. Did you wire them to a separate switch or keyed? Thanks guys!

I searched and didn't see anyone even mention it on the forum or in the "my engine makes sounds like Satan playing the steel drums" threads. Page 11-33 in the FSM says the balancer can either make a "whine" if the backlash is to small or a "rattling" if to excessive. Mine made a ticking or rattling noise way low down in the engine a long time ago at idle and if you let it sit and would sometimes come back at red lights. Haven't heard it in a while but i have extreme selective hearing due to being married.

Thoughts, opinions?
Also if i give it hell off the line sometimes going from second to third gear there is nothing there and it won't go into third till i click up again. I've also had it pop out of third.

I am looking to buy my first MC riding jacket and am looking for opinions. I live in Hawaii where the weather is usually in the 80s or 90s during the day. So I am looking for an appropriate jacket for this warm weather and mesh jackets seems to be the best option. However, I like the look of a leather jacket so I was wondering if there are any leather jackets with adequate ventilation for our warm weather.

Last week I asked the question PCV or Bazzaz. I was informed about Don at Guhl Motors that does an ECU flash. After some research and talking to Don I think that is the way to go. The problem as most of you know is he has not been able to dyno a bike yet. He said in 2013 there was tons of hype about the CB and doing the flash but no one close to him would commit to bringing their bike there. He said he can do a general flash and it will be an improvement, but a dyno tune will have awesome benefits. So I am contemplating taking the 400 mile trip there for my benefit and all yours. But I realistically cant afford to take the time off work, drive my old truck out there and rent a room. Id have to stay for a few days for him to try different things with tuning. It may be doable for me next season, but now would be tough.
So Im really hoping/asking will someone closer will consider bringing their bike to him? There are a lot of things that our bikes can gain if he can get one of these bikes for a few days.

This subject came up in another thread so I thought I would put in my two cents worth since I used to have a motorcycle tire store.
Why does my tire look like it is on backwards?
The "backwards V" design used on most front tire today helps to
push water to the outside of the tire. If you could hold the tire over
your head and see the way it hits the pavement it make a lot more
sense. The Mfg. came up with this design in the late 70s or early 80s
and now almost all fronts use some form of it in tread design.
Almost every week some would come back to say I put their tire on backwards. Even a guy with a car tire shop. I tried to be as gentle as
I could as I pointed out the arrow on the side wall of the tire.

I would assume that a small amount of oil might be consumed during the break-in period with the CB, but how much is normal?

I did the first change at 600miles/1000km and now have 2300miles/3700km on the same synthetic blend 10w30 oil.
NOTE: This is not intended to be an Oil Brand or Viscosity Grade Thread

During this interval the oil has dropped 2-3mm in the site window (or from just above the maximum line to just below the maximum line).
There has been no need to add any oil, yet it is clear that a small but discernible amount has been consumed.
I take these readings on the centre stand, the morning after each ride, with the bike parked in the same position.

Is this typical? Has anyone's CB burned more or less during the first few thousand miles?
