Took my CB into service (5 days left on the warranty)…it's been there for 4 days now. About a week before I took it in, it started acting a little funny. A few times, I'd start it cold and rather than go to high idle, it struggled at 500 RPM and sounded like a cylinder or two was not firing. Another time it started normal and after I let it warm up and blipped the throttle, it did the same thing for about a second or two. Anyway, I hope they can track and fix the problem. It's sad not seeing the red sled in the garage in the mornings.

One the plus side, I pick up a Ural side car rig in the morning to add to my garage…nutty, I know, but I can ride it in the snow.

There's been a lot of talk on here lately about the old Nighthawk 750, and it got me to wondering: especially since Honda did such a beautiful job with the CB1100, why don't they offer any other inline-4 standard/UJM bikes now? They've got a great line of both Sport and Supersport inline-4s to draw on, including the new CBR650F, which, from the sounds of the specs would make a great engine to build around, yet the CB1100 is the only member of the "naked" family for Honda. With all the nostalgia for classic looks these days, it seems like a mid-size would be a natural progression, and a slightly smaller size that a lot of people might prefer, the perfect direction to pursue.
Any thoughts?

Some of the fancy name synthetic materials being marketed to riders play on ignorance, and are actually dangerous. The info here is a good education.

New to the forum. I did a search and haven't found a good answer. Anyone using handguards on their CB1100's? I ride year-round and could really use them on the CB (my favorite of three bikes but the only one without guards). The Acerbis Dual Road handguards look good and they say they have a universal mount but then you have to enter your bike model to order. They don't have an option for anything newer than 2012 (my CB's the 2013). Anyone try these? Other suggestions? Thanks for any help.

Has anyone removed the metal name plate from a Moriwaki exhaust? Seems very well stuck and I don't want to damage the pipework.

When changing your oil, do you always change the seal out. Manual says to alway use a new one. I know there cheap but was wondering what most do. Just wondering.

Just got back from a 135 mile ride and was getting out of my gear. What an ordeal lol. Was wearing a Tourmaster cordura jacket, Tourmaster cordura gloves, Fieldsheer cordura riding pants, and Alpinestars motorcycle boots. Holy cow the zippers and velcro it takes to get in and out of this stuff. Riiiiip open right sleeve to coat, riiiip undo strap for right glove and remove, repeat process for other hand, riiiiip undo Velcro on front flap of coat..ziiiiiip undo zipper on front of coat, remove coat. Riiiip undo cuff of right pant leg, riiiiiip undo velcro on side flap of right pant leg, ziiiiip undo side zipper on right pant leg, repeat process for other leg. Rip undo Velcro at top of right boot, ziiip undo zipper on side of right boot, remove one boot, repeat process for other boot, riiip undo Velcro on belt on pants, snap, snap undo snaps at waist on pants, riiip undo Velcro on crotch flap, ziiip undo zipper on pants crotch, Step out of pants. Ta da..done!

What in the world did motorcyclists do before Velcro and zippers?

I always think I know how to ride pretty well, but I'm not so arrogant that I don't think I can't learn something new. Plus I love Physics, so this post matches my way of thinking.

Alright, so I own two bikes, the CB1100 and a 1978 Honda XL175. The 175 is not a regular use bike. I drag it out every so often to run some gas through it. With a low top speed and replacement parts getting more scarce, I just can't use it much.

So, the CB serves as my weekend toy for pleasure rides. It's a fine bike, but I do miss having something light and nimble. Also, I enjoy a dirt road every so often. My last bike, a V-strom 650 checked off all the boxes of a somewhat nimble, dirt road capable bike that also worked well loaded down with luggage on a trip. Problem is, such a versatile bike tends to not excel in any one area. That, in turn, can make for a somewhat vanilla experience if you are after a bike that really tugs at your emotions. Some folks are in it for where the motorcycle takes you, which is fine, but I need something more.

The CB does satisfy my retro tooth, and I love the powerplant, but that's where it ends. It got me to thinking, is there any bike that really is the total package between performance, functional, and emotion? For me, I can't think of a single bike. Each person will answer this question differently, but I think it could be an interesting discussion. What say you all?
