I was home sick for a couple of days and couldn't ride, so I decided to see what I could do with windows movie maker. this is what happens when you have to much time on your hands. enjoy

Monthly Guzzi breakfast this morning so I dusted off the CB (she needed the ride time and I figured would be a good bike to take to the Steel Horse Swap meet; last year I took the CB350F).

33 degrees, kept the windscreen off though - went commando! Bundled up, electric jacket liner (but did not use the glove liners - only a five mile ride) and a bunch of Freeze Out under garments. Wore the kevlar jeans instead of the riding pants with insulated liners; glad the ride was not any longer.

Several guys bailed and rode their cages to breakfast but about ten bikes showed up (only four Guzzi's!). One was an older CB750 with Rifle fairing and a Targa chin piece. I'd love a chin piece on the CB!!

Warmed up to 40 after breakfast, was hitting 50 when I left for home. Hit 60 later in the day when we took the truck out.
Anyway, it has been a spell since I have ridden the CB and it was so nice to be on her again. And without the windscreen! Need to do that more often.

Our moderator Mick has lots of seat time with his son and I'm sure many of you do as well. Post up some photos of you motorcycling with your son or daughter, both vintage and current. We want to see them. I started my son Charley riding at 12 months on an electric quad with plastic tires. At age two I bought him his first Honda, a Z-50 that weighed about 4 times as much as he did so I built training wheels for it and governed it to 5 mph. By age 5 he was off the training wheels and hauling butt on that little Honda. His next bikes were an XR-50, XR-70, XR-100, and his current dirt bike is a Honda CRF-250X (identical to mine). His current street bike is a Ducati 796 and we ride together quite a bit when he comes home to visit from Texas A&M University where he is a senior this year.

The first photo below was taken in 1994 when Charley was 2. The next was taken in 1997 when he was 5. The current photo was taken two weeks ago (he's 22 now). All the best.

I am lucky enough to be turning a year older in about two weeks. As part of my celebration, my family and I are going to watch the flat track races being held on the Del Mar race track (used for horse racing normally). I've never been to flat track races but saw them in one of the recent motorcycle movies - Why We Ride or On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter (I think the latter). It looks like a lot of fun. I plan to take a lot of pictures and will post them here. Apparently, they will have amateur and professional racers on different kinds of bikes. Can't wait!

I did a Lake Superior Iron Butt last June. Now the guy who set that run up is doing a Lake Huron ride. I am considering it as we speak. 642 miles in Canada and 368 miles in the good old USA. In less than 24 hours.

A quick check on Weatherbug says it would be a great day to ride...almost 60 degrees...if it wasn't pouring down rain. The map is very colorful!

2 out of 3 got oil changes, tire air pressures checked, the CB got chain slack checked and lubed. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate oil? Gads it gets everywhere.

BTW the CB is a CINCH to change oil on compared to the ST. I'd rather do 25 CB changes in a row than 1 ST change. Honda made the CB so easy to change the oil on EXCEPT for the smallish fill hole. Someday I will find just the right funnel for it.

I am just wondering if any of you guys ever owned any of the V stars? I know two local folks who had the small 650s and they were nearly indestructible and one fellow had a 1100 which was a real good bike long term.

I was just killing time today these things can be had pretty cheap if you shop it out. They make a touring model in the 1300 which is pretty nice. These things are way cheaper than the sport touring models like the ST1300 or FJR1300. They dont have near the power and would not be as sporty but if your one up on a long trip I dont see why it would not work pretty well. Im just kicking around some ideas and wanted some opinions.

For once, I dont like the Honda offering of the 1300 interstate because the front end is raked too far out and I think that could cause some handling gremlins. Im thinking 1300 cc would be enough even on a V twin one up for some longer hauls. These things only make the horsepower of the old 750 Nighthawks but have loads more torque and it better have because its over 200 lbs heavier. Appreciate any opinions. Is this enough bike to ride cross county on one up? I am thinking its enough but would like to hear what others think.

I mean heck, a while back some fool rode a Honda Grom 125 from Texas I think to Alaska and actually made it. I just dont want to go that slow to see the country just to say I did it on a 125 with 9 horsepower.

I picked up some Freeze Out windproof, thermal under garments (I feel like my grandma saying "under garments" but don't know what else to call them) from Cycle Gear today. Going to use them on my ride to Vegas next week. I hope they're as good as they claim to be. I got the long pants, the zippered jacket and the gloves. I already have a neck gaiter (Turtle Fur) which is outstanding.
