  Moto- friendly Cafes

Hey, guys, I made a small contribution to John Burns' article on great places for motorbikers to chow and meet up. While this is no doubt an unscientific study, there are some great places, including my choice, Woody's in Allentown NJ. Here's the link. Any places you recommend?

  Trailer loading question.
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 03-01-2015, 12:51 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (23)

I have a drop gate utility trailer that I use for the occasional trailering of my bikes. I plan on trailering my CB to Georgia later this month to get it in to postion for the NC 'rally' in May. I will probably trailer another one of my bikes back to Florida so I have something here to ride. I'm just not 'up' to riding 500 miles to Atlanta on a Saturday and then 500 miles back to Fla. on Sunday. My problem is... I don't like the angle of the drop gate. The trailer is level and the gate is not short, but the angle of accent (more importantly, the decent) is still too much. I've done it... but with lighter bikes like my KLR and my daughters SV650. I'm scared to death to do it with my Harley and a bit concerned with the CB. But I was thinking, if I had a small low ramp... a way to lift the rear of the tow vehicle by about 4-5 inches, it would effectively lower the rear of the trailer and ease the incline. I could build something like this with a few pieces of wood...

---------------
----------------------------
---------------------------------------------

It would be 3 to 4 two by sixes or two by tens nailed together in such a way to form a ramp UP and then a ramp DOWN. And I'd put some form of 'non-slid' material in the bottom to grip the asphalt when pressure is applied.

Any thoughts? Or... perhaps you know exactly what I'm trying to do and already have a better idea?? Thanks in advance!! Thanks
My little diagram above wants to slide to the left... in theory there is also a 'ramp' on the left, like you see on the right above.

Where oh wear do I buy my jacket?
Posted by: NightRider_imp - 03-01-2015, 04:26 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (22)

I went for a FirstGear Kilimanjaro jacket, dark. Revzilla $287.95, Sloans Honda $289.00.

Let's see, order online and save 2 bucks and hope you ordered the right size and it looks better than that crappy web picture, or go to the dealer and try them on and then go outside and order it online for a 2 dollar savings or let the saleslady earn that commission and also build your relationship with that dealer and take it home today, right now, wear it home and spend 2 dollars more for it and take it back that day if you change your mind...hmmmmm...I suggest the last option is the first and only option to consider.

Now, maybe one can find it somewhere online for much less but who really wants to since buying from your favorite dealer, your favorite dealer because you chose to buy from that dealer not because he happened to be a Honda dealer and had the best deal for a few extra bucks off, but because he/she has a great reputation in the community over years, did right by you also when you bought the bike and so begins a long relationship with that dealer that favors you. You buy the dealer and not the bike because you can buy the bike anywhere but great dealers are few and far between.

This is just my humble opinion. Thanks for listening. - Art

Waiting for the new Flyscreen from Dart?
Posted by: Leaning_imp - 03-01-2015, 03:43 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (20)

The Dart Website says their Marlin flyscreen will be available in March.
Supposed to be a little bigger with a little more wind protection, might be just the ticket.
Can't wait to see some pictures.

  Best width for racing stripe?
Posted by: Rebel73_imp - 03-01-2015, 03:14 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - No Replies

Guys,

Has anyone on here added racing stripes to their CB? If so, what width/style did you go with? I want to do this and I'm looking into vinyl vs. paint.

I was actually thinking of going with a silver stripe with black pinstripe, similar to the small graphic that is already on the edge of red DLX tank.

In the summer I still tend to wear jeans the most for riding, I have a pair of Dainese with Kevlar, would be nice to have a pair with a little more padding......like their new Bonneville ones :-)

Need Honda part # for Type II handlebars!
Posted by: Olyrider - 02-28-2015, 03:55 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (21)

I checked Samurider.com for the part number, but they aren't showing it. My local dealer says he can order them (no shipping!) if I can give him a part number.

Thanks!!
