Pair Valve Mod and O2 sensor
Posted by: twiin640_imp - 03-06-2015, 10:19 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (3)

I've found all the 411 I need on the pair valve mod for popping exhaust. Easy enuf to do and appears to do the trick. I ordered the sp tadao power box short slip on muffler system. If for some reason I notice pops more than my liking on decel, I'll do the pvm.

So here are some questions:

1. After the pair valve mod, does the O2 sensor now sense a decrease of O2 and modify the engine air/fuel mixture?

2. Has anyone found any negatives to doing the pvm? ie: mpg decrease, power decrease, long term effects, etc.

3. Besides the reduction of "popping" exhaust, has anyone found positives to doing the pvm? increased mpg, power, etc.

As always, thanks in advance for any info. Thumbs Up

This wasn't supposed to happen yet!
Posted by: EGAlvarez_imp - 03-06-2015, 08:47 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (28)

This wasn't supposed to happen yet! Over the past few weeks I went a little crazy, reading everything I could find online and watching every YouTube video related in any way to the CB1100. My poor wife is sick of hearing about this machine!
I had plans of waiting a year or so, and then scooping up a knockout deal on a used standard. While doing my research, I began to drool over pictures of the deluxe. I wanted the 6-speed, ABS, silver motor/wheels, 4-2 exhaust and the shiny stuff the DLX offered. The problem was that a new bike was above my budget, used deluxes at a great price are practically impossible to find and I worried that the CB's would no longer be offered in the U.S.
A couple of days ago, I was scanning ads online and found this mint condition, used Deluxe, only 4 hours away from my home. After a few phone calls, we agreed to a very, very fair OTD price and I promtly placed a deposit on her! In addition to the bike, a enormous windshield (that will be removed), a rear rack, a Honda top case, a Scorpio alarm, a Garmin GPS with RAM mount and a Honda workshop manual were all included in the deal!
I am so looking forward to picking her up so that I can take some much better quality pictures to share with you all!

  Horsepower vs. Torque ?
Posted by: Rebel73_imp - 03-06-2015, 06:44 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (47)

It seems that car and motorcycle people are often obsessed with horsepower, but from what I've gathered, it seems that torque is actually the more important number in the real world.

Horsepower seems to become more important at triple digit speeds, such as in racing, but getting onto freeway on-ramps and 0-60 is more about the torque.

Thoughts?

  I tried but I couldn't do it.

Thought if I made the move to the CB1100, it would be the 1 bike in the stable. Even contemplated moving to the Deluxe as others have but couldn't justify the difference so after almost a year of ownership I ended up adding 2 others to the stable, the same models I had traded in to get the CB1100 with. Thankfully there are many excellent deals that you can make on them. All 3 offer a distinct experience enough to enjoy. Glad I'm not the only one that has experienced this........

  NBR, first international flight alone
Posted by: jsinher3_imp - 03-05-2015, 11:42 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (1)

not really bike related, so forgive me..

I booked a flight to Japan for two weeks in Aug/Sep I am traveling alone and need some input/advice from those that have been there. I decided Japan because I always wanted to go there, I heard it’s relatively safe and it’s a birthday gift to me “). I have always been fascinated with their culture and history and I love their import cars and bikes.

1: I’m looking for opinions on housing while I’m there, a friend told me about using something called couch surfing or air bnb if I’m going to be traveling alone it’s a good way to possibly meet people, other options are hostels or some kind of business cube hotels. have you guys had any experience with any of these or recommend anything else, also I plan to travel a lot and I’m not sure whether it would be wise to have a place paid for 2 weeks in Tokyo if I’m not going to be there often and might actually be staying at another part of the country for a day or two.

2: places to go, I have been looking at websites and stuff so I do have some ideas of places to visit, but do you guys have any car/bike related places w/address or just general places/events to check out? I also found this on google how accurate is this map?

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer...BucPZz3bRc

3: I also want to see if I can get my hands on some jdm goods while I’m there, have you guys had any experience buying car/bikes parts there and taking them back home via checked luggage, or should I be looking at getting things shipped separate? Also any information on salvage yards/ pull a parts yards I can visit? =D

4: since its summer I plan to dress accordingly but how hot does it get?

5: commuting, am I able to rent a car, should I rent a car? How is commuting from place to place? Can I rent a motorcycle? I would like to be able to ride the country side on a motorcycle.

6: how hard is it to get money out a card out there, should I just bring money from here already converted or is card accepted widely around there?

7: I will be updating this periodically, but anything you guys can add or suggest would be greatly appreciated.

  Calling London CB1100 owners!
Posted by: sleddy_imp - 03-04-2015, 11:19 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Are you in the London area of the UK? Would you like a free Dart flyscreen for your 2014+ CB1100? Better still, would you like the first production model of the new Marlin flyscreen for free?

All I need is a little help from you…

You see, the launch model will be for the older (5 speed) bikes, as that’s the one I own. I know the screen fits these bikes, and it works well.

As we don’t have access to the later 2014+ models, I need to check a set of prototype brackets to make sure they fit your bike correctly. Ideally you’d be in SE London and able to pop in; however, if you’re reasonably local I can come to you, or we can possibly even do it remotely.

I’ve got a queue of riders who are interested in this product, so the sooner we can test it, the better. In return, I’ll give you a flyscreen for free, and the Marlin product when it comes out.

If this is of interest, please email me: steve@dartflyscreens.com or reply to this thread.
