Smell of petrol (gas) - simplest2remember_imp - 04-24-2015 Since I had it serviced last week whenever I take her on a run there is a strong smell of petrol (or is it exhaust fumes?) that smells out the garage. I noticed a couple of drops of oil that leaked from one of those two hoses that hang out below the engine, but only a couple of drops - nothing major. Is that related? Can't see any other leaks. Has anyone had this problem? I wondered if the mechanic has forgotton the screw something back on?? RE: Smell of petrol (gas) - Lord Popgun - 04-25-2015 What service was performed? That could help to narrow it down. Other than that, you are not overfilling the tank are you? RE: Smell of petrol (gas) - simplest2remember_imp - 04-25-2015 Sorted. Jumped to wrong conclusion about the service. It was a hose between I guess the petrol tank and the engine which was "stretched", I.e. leaking. Luckily I discovered this just prior to a big 12 day trip, which I'm now happily on. RE: Smell of petrol (gas) - Lord Popgun - 04-25-2015 Yes, there is not much slack in the tank to fuel connection line. You can only lift the tank a small amount to get your hand in there to remove the fuel line. Glad you sorted it out before there was a fire. |
