Don't know how many of you are familiar with this publication (currently in a long term holding pattern), but it was/is a great work of art dedicated to the world of vintage motorcycling from the 60's, 70's and 80's. This magazine was put together by Mitch Boehm — who has enjoyed quite the career in the moto journalism industry (including serving as the editor of Motorcyclist for 13 years). I was recently looking over my copies of MRI (sadly only 6 issues have been published) and still can't get over how good it is. Awesome photos and excellent writing covering subject matter that is near and dear to most all of us here on this forum. I'm really hoping that Mitch can find a way to get this project back up and running once again.

Anyone else here enjoy this one as well?

By the way, before "Moto Retro Illustrated", Mitch put together "Motorcyclist Retro" which was also really cool, but alas was very short-lived, lasting only 3 issues before the parent company pulled the plug on it.
Also forgot to mention that Moto Retro Illustrated's focus is primarily on the bikes coming out of Japan during the 60's, 70's and 80's in addition to events that occurred during this time.

Just ordered a neat product for the CB./ http://www.tankslapper.biz sells neat pre-cut film to protect the back and sides of your tank. Appears as though it also covers where the front of the seat abrades the paint. The side panels are about where your knees rest. Less than $20. I'll let ya'll know how it works out.
The grips are a bit small for me. Does anyone know of a product that wraps around grips to give them a bit more diameter and maybe a softer/foam grip?
Three weeks into ownership, just hit the 500 mile mark. Such sweet ride, I have a hard time getting off. Once I get something on for the windblast, the horizon beckons.

Those guys ride. I spent all weekend riding around and the vast majority of bikes were HD and the vast majority of riders waved back at me. I've shot my mouth of a couple of times about pirate gear, selling a lifestyle, etc but I wanted to give credit to the guys who get out and put some miles on. Only a couple of sportbikes out once I got out of the city so.... maybe power isn't everything.

The Slimy Crud was today, I went out to pine bluff only, not to Leland.
I had to get back to mount a tire. The weather was great.

There were so many people and bikes you just could not see all of it. Ran into old customers and friend , great to get caught up.

For as much time as I spend near Mt. Hood it is surprising that I rarely make the journey up to the mountain itself. Knowing how much the ferret enjoys photos of mountains, this morning I decided that I'd take a little diversion up to higher elevations with my camera along for the ride.

The classic ride from Portland is to make a loop that includes the Columbia River Gorge, Hood River, the valley, Mt. Hood and then back home. The loop around the mountain is also known as the "Fruit Loop" because of all of the orchards located in the valley. One of these days I'll try to take my camera along on this route.

This morning's ride was just a quick run up to Timberline Lodge which is appropriately named as it sits right at the timberline up on Mt. Hood. The lodge itself is very cool. It was built back in the 1930's and is easily worth a visit on it's own. The mountain scenery is the icing on the cake.

This is the entrance to Timberline Lodge. It's an awesome place. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of the entire building. It's size is impressive — especially considering where it was constructed.

I'm a longtime lurker and reader and seldom poster on this forum. I appreciate all the ideas and info you all share here and it has helped me make some of my decisions on what to so with my bike. I just installed some new parts from Samurider and the bike is cleaner then usual so I took some pics and thought I'd share. Thank you all.

Hi Folks,

My first post here (though I've been lurking for a month or so), and thought I'd ask the collective about something I'd saw today.

2014 CB1100 (Canada model), about 300Km on it so far (1 month).

After a 2 hour ride today I parked the bike. An hour later I saw a bit of oil underneath the bike, about 2" diameter spot. Looking closer, it's a very slow drip from a black tube near the side stand (the black tube is next to the pink, plugged tube).

Is this something I should be worried about? Oil level in the window looks fine, ie. I don't think its overfilled. This is the first time I've seen this, and I would have noticed it if it happened before.

I just ordered the MIZ front fender for my 2024 standard. Orderd the black painted one. Wondering if anyone has bought this fender. I ordered it through Samurider with Mr.T. He said it would be about three weeks being that they are made to order. This is my first purchase with samurider. I think this will really complete my look for the bike. I love the lines of the bike and the concept of the Retro theme except for a couple things here and there. I think the bike was made a little more Retro than I like so now it will have a Retro look with a modern day cafe twist. I was stopped at a light next to a car full of teenagers the other day and they rolled the window down and said what a really cool looking bike man. I laughed and gave them the thumbs up and thanked them. Nice to see the young crowd appriciate the bike.

I'm staying with my family at our cabin up near Mt. Hood tonight. Since I didn't have any plans to fish, nor did I need to haul anything in my truck this time around it was the perfect opportunity to take the CB1100 out on a beautiful May day. So I traveled solo (well me and the CB that is) and met up with my family later on.

I stayed off of the highway for the most part and took the long way instead enjoying the rural roads and soaking up the scenery. It was the perfect day for a ride and there were lots of others out on bikes today as well. Clearly I wasn't the only one in a good mood due to the perfect weather as almost everyone was quick to flash the "bikers wave" before I could manage to get my left hand off of the grip LOL.

No surprise that the CB1100 was a real pleasure to spend the afternoon with. The pictures pretty much tell the story. However, I'll point out that I do not drink and ride so don't want anyone to get the wrong idea from the tavern shot (it's just a really cool old structure). As the last photo shows, I'm filing this ride report from the front porch of the cabin, with the sound of the ZigZag river in the background while I finally enjoy a cold one (with my riding done for the day).

This is the Brightwood Tavern. Its a "log tavern" — purpose built as a tavern back in the 1930s."
