  New Member, pristine CB750 raffle
Posted by: 1100F_imp - 05-08-2015, 03:54 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie and will be buying my CB1100 soon. I've read a lot of your posts and have learned a lot about these bikes from your experiences. I especially like the videos and buying info - thanks!

On another topic, I saw an interesting article in my Jalopnick feed earlier today, an organization called Pro4Vets is raffling a restored, pristine 70s CB750. The article says "The pristine CB750 you see here is being offered by Pros 4 Vets to raise money for returning veterans, just 2000 raffle tickets will be sold at $10 a pop, and they’re happy to crate the bike up and send it anywhere in the world (with shipping at the winners expense, of course)."

Here's a link to see for yourself: http://silodrome.com/honda-cb750-motorcycle/

With some luck, I may be adding both a CB1100 and CB750 to my garage soon :-)

All the best, Tom

  3 weeks in
Posted by: Southwend - 05-08-2015, 03:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Three weeks in I just rolled the odometer to 625 miles last night. I took a 2 hour ride that was about as pleasent as I could ask for. I am taking care of the first service myself, Hondas 10w30 and filter check, lube, wipe the chain sit down and talk nice to her. That's about it; which is ANOTHER reason I like this motorcycle!
I think though after another 800-1000 miles I will consider the motor nicely honed and lapped and valves seated and then it will be time for synthetic oil forever.
Think that's enough break-in?

  Frequency of chain oiling?
Posted by: Rebel73_imp - 05-08-2015, 01:16 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (48)

So the guy at the Honda dealer said that I should be oiling the chain every week. I've only had shaft drive up to this point so that seems a bit excessive to me.

What are you guys doing?

  ECU Reflash

Any fuel mileage reports after an ECU Reflash ? Just curious. I know fuel mileage is not the primary concern of most CB1100 owners,

I'm a daily commuter and I'm committed to riding regardless of the weather with the exception of mega-storms.

How does the CB perform in the rain? Anything I should be aware of? It seemed to do well yesterday in the rain. My rainy ride MO is to reduce my speed and increase the distance between me and the vehicle ahead.

The past few morning I have gone to the Ninga 1000 site only to find 2 or 3 post from my last visit. They have about 600 members but not as active as this board, so I click on today posts here along with my coffee for my reading therapy. What a great active forum we have here, never take it for granted.
