  Black is Beautiful!!
Posted by: fiscy_imp - 05-13-2015, 09:50 AM - Forum: CB1100 Photos & Videos - Replies (72)

I just wanted to compile a few pictures of black only 2014 cb1100 standards just to try to fine tune my thoughts on modifying mine to the next level. Any pictures of 2014 "black only" you may have to share would be great.

  Shocking
Posted by: Southwend - 05-12-2015, 12:20 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (11)

My new cb has the shocks as the dealer set them, second notch on rear, third notch barely showing on the front. I am about 185lbs. I took my son, 120lbs, out for a ride the other day. Granted it wasn't very long but the suspension felt better to me with the additional weight.
But what could this mean Obie Wan? I am just a big sissy softy now or would I get a similar effect by going backwards on my adjustments? I imagine the trade off is handling?
The set up just felt like it was soaking up more road with the additional weight on board. this is the first bike I have owned with adjustable options on front and rear I know I can just experiment and will, if I set the rears on the first notch that would be a move to softer and then I would do what to the front, turn to expose fewer notches? And yes I do find the current setting to be a bit of a punch in the butt over bumps at hi way speed. An improvement over the Thruxton and way better than the old Sportster cafe racer no doubt, but is this just part of the non-mono shock ride I should expect?

  WHITE HOUSE AND WYVERN PICS
Posted by: FJR919_imp - 05-12-2015, 10:07 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (34)

I finally finished the White House /Wyvern install on my 2014 Deluxe . Reflashed ECM with no fuel changes; I have a PCV that will be dynotuned for a custom map once I get enough mileage on the bike. Everything is of very high quality, and Takashi is a pleasure to do business with. Let's hope the pictures post.

  First oil change question
Posted by: geosar_imp - 05-12-2015, 08:57 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (17)

My "new" 2013 CB has 380 miles.

It sat on the dealer's floor for 2 years and has the factory oil in it.

I am headed for a 600 mile trip in two days. The oil in the sight glass looks clear.

Should I change my oil in anticipation of passing 600 miles this week, realizing that the oil has been in the bike for 2 years? Or should I just change it when I return home a little over 600 miles.

I appreciate any thoughts and advice.

Thank you

Headed to the white mountains.

George

This one has my interest piqued, even though I already have a Super Tenere.

Mind blowing motorcycle collection in North Dakota
Posted by: Scoobynut_imp - 05-12-2015, 06:18 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (16)

The other thread about the 3 CBX's motivated me to dig up these pictures I took last year.

I know this guy in North Dakota through my parents who at last count had 15 CBX's, all years and colors from '79 through '81. Behind them you can see the row of his 4-cylinder Honda CBs, every model through 1976, not just 750s. He has three sandcast 750s among his 750s. He bought the old Honda dealer's building when they built a new one and keeps the bikes there. It's a pretty mind blowing collection for a private individual, around 360 bikes in all, half in N. Dakota, half in Arizona.

CBX row, with some of the CB750s in the next row background. Not sure why he's got that one twin mixed in with them:

4-cylinder CB row:

Goldwing row:

Vintage Yamaha row. I wanted to ask him about the gaudy neo-classic Zimmer or whatever it is in the background, but on second thought kept my mouth shut as I would hate to lose my viewing priviliges:

More Yamahas with a Wards Riverside thrown in for good measure:

He had 5 Kawi W650s at last count, some with tank colors that weren't available in the US. Also has a few of their forerunner W1s from the late '60s. I think you can see the front of one of them in this picture.
[url=http://s173.photobucket.com/user/cyrenus/media/Mitzel%204_zpsfz3kyfq2.jpg.html][Image: a1484c06b9bd1be2930e7afc62e512fd.jpg]

He also has a lot of cool British and Italian bikes, lots of rare two stroke V-4 and square4 race replicas, RC30s, three Rickman CB750s, two Rickman Kawasaki Z1s (along with about 10 other '73 through '75 stock Z1s),
Suzuki rotaries, two-stroke triples, some rare Japanese police CBs, pre US market 1950's Hondas and on and on and on.

If you're ever in the area, give me a shout and I'll see if I can arrange a viewing with the owner. He's gone a lot in the summer, attending bike shows all over the country in a custom mini-semi that carries 15 bikes and two cars.

Just crazy, huh?
