Many thanks!
Just an idea.... if you still have the original that failed; mount it on the wall in the garage or shop.
I've got some of these "goodies" in the shop. They make great conversation pieces.
Here's a few examples.
Stinger exhaust for my VW. Didn't get around the block and the local policeman followed me home. Fortunately; he had a good sense of humor & was a car guy.
New remote oil filter housing. Sprayed oil everywhere after startup.
Yep, it had a casting crack, and made it on the "wall of shame".
Some where self inflicted.
Cracked the left radiator cowl on the Rune (rock?). $234
Idle mount for the Miata. Some friend were over "what the h_ _ _!"
GSXR front fender. Wasn't quite right, so I heated. Looked pretty good, but I had to do just one more spot. Darn thing got more waves in it than the Atlantic.
Love that idea. Unfortunately, K&N wants the part back for "testing" which I'm sure means someone looks at it and says "Yep, it is broken."
In better news, they are going to send me a reimbursement request for all the parts I've had to replace. So far that consists of:
- x4 quarts Lucas oil ($45.00)
- OEM replacement oil filter ($14.00)
- x2 sets of EBC brake pads ($59.00)
- Brake Cleaner ($3.00)
Total thus far: $121.00

Make sure to keep receipts on that stuff.

Done! I have a file full of receipts.

Stay far away. They sent me two new ones, but they are going in the trash.

This may be for Americans only, as there was no option to choose a Canadian Province on the e-form...
I live in PA and filled out the form. I hope something comes of this. It's inexcusable considering how dangerous a failure could potentially be. I'm glad I was going less than 10 mph on a rural road.
