I run K&N air filters in most of my bikes and all the cars I have ever owned. They work well, and help the environment by not having to throw an air filter out every time one is changed. They also seem to add a little kick by offering less resistance to air flow to any engine. I put a UNI-Flow in the DLX until it is broke in, ha ha, and then a K&N will go in, and it may be the last one I may ever buy unless Honda gives us a nice CB 1300 or something that looks like a motorcycle to me.

That is a debatable premise on the basis of the cleaning agents used to clean them and the oil used to "re-sticky" them. After you have cleaned your K&N's do you take the solvent mix they supply for use to the local recycling centre for safe disposal, fair play if you do but I suspect most don't and it ends up in the ground and eventually the water table.
It is a bit like the reusable cup and the china mug. Is the energy used to wash the mug more than the energy expended making and composting the paper cup? - I don't know the answer either.

Making a paper cup requires more water than washing a reusabbme cup.
Don't know about air filters...

But how much more energy with the heated water or dishwasher? There is a trade off for everything, we go gung ho banning everything but "important people", e.g. John Kerry has to use that Jet to combat climate change because he is SO important. There are a lot of "important people" on the planet who will give up your comforts on your behalf while still enjoying the trappings of mass consumption.
Oh, I think I went a little light headed there, sorry folks!

So-kay Tev. This is a Forum where few ride the CB1100 to survive and make a living. In most cases it is a discretionary enjoyment and with many, has therapeutic value - we like to believe anyway.
Nevertheless, it puts pressure on the environment every time we get our therapy fix. Those who don't ride might think a lot like that - seems reasonable to see it that way. The alternative? Heck, what, ... crouch in the dark corner of the basement and hope all the worldly too-much-to-handle excitement goes away? Yeah, ... not.

Thank you PowerDubs. This is great to know and one of the reasons I love this forum. I copy and paste stuff like this into a Word document on my desktop for future reference.

Now, as far as the debate about the environment, we can go nuts trying to sort out all the ways we are contributing to it and never get any sleep. Do your best and live your life responsibly and enjoy the ride.

In case anyone is interested- I have purchased- Sprint Filter CM101S and will be doing my own dyno testing of it vs stock.
Both of which will have their back end opened up, as my airbox is modified and equipped to breath from both sides.
That means between that modification- and my engines output already increased over 25%- they will get a chance to really show what they can do.

Thanks for the data point.
And yes I would not expect a filter on an average bike to make any difference whatsoever.
If you remember, I dynoed the 2014 snorkel, 2017 snorkel, and the TSR snorkel plate all on the same day same dyno.
The TSR plate did make a couple wheel horsepower but only at very high rpm wide-open throttle, and at that time I did not have the autotune so it did lean out a little bit as well.
This was before I did the cams, and maybe even before I board out the velocity stacks. Don’t even remember if I had the arrow header on at that point.
