I noticed this morning on the way to work that the protective sheath around the throttle cable has split, exposing the metal throttle cable underneath. It looks relatively recent, because the cable itself is still silver and shiny. my initial instinct is to put the sheath back together and get it wrapped up tight with electrical tape, but if anybody else knows any good tricks to sealing this up that would help. Or should I just have the cable replaced?

Down to Dauphin Island and back. That's the longest I've gone since I got the bike last month. The bike ran great all the way but I was a bit uneasy about the 10 year old tires that are still on it. My new ones should be coming in this week and I will feel more comfortable about riding farther from home.

Recent bike comparison, not including first Sportster, first Triumph or first Moto Guzzi. Pls advise of any corrections needed, if of interest.

I unretired last week, at age 77, with the purchase of a 2024 Yamaha Bolt XVS950 (now XVS95CRB).
173 miles Tuesday with over 300 miles first week.
Highway 47 from Belen is desert.
Highway 60 changes from desert to forest.
Mountainair is 6,000 feet elevation.
Highway 55 is mostly farms up to Salinas Pueblo Quarai ruins.

Highway 337 on the east side of the Manzano Mountains goes through beautiful pines at about 7,000 feet elevation.
It joins Interstate 40 at exit 175, east of Albuquerque.
Circled home via I40 and I25.
Topped off in Albuquerque at 136.1 miles with 2.213 gallons for 61.5 MPG.
87 octane fuel was $3.299 compared to 86 octane in Belen for $2.99.

The case holds a battery powered tire pump, Dynaplug kit, rain jacket and strap to secure a jacket over the case.

This bike comes with a toolkit under locking left side cover, but the only Yamaha tools retained in the kit are the two open end wrenches.

Anyone know/have a link to a motocross style foot peg that fits our bikes?

I ordered a pair for a CRF110 that Amazon said would fit but it does not. Its 2mm too wide to fit inside the rearset bracket for the footpeg.

I can definitely throw it on my buddies belt grinder/sander and thin it out but I'd rather just order a direct fit if anyone knows? Not sure if I'm messing with structural integrity by removing 2mm off the mounting tabs.

All my buddies have been using these MX style footpegs on their Harleys for awhile cause they're so much more comfortable they say so I want to try them out myself.

Hi all

I've had my 2017 EX for 2 years now with just 2900 kms presently on the clock- I bought it used with 1800 kms. Over the last year or so I have had a scenario occur which is intermittent; when I turn the key to ignition on what should happen normally (BEFORE pressing the start button) is that both gauge needles should swing over clockwise & then re-settle to zero. Around 50% of the time this doesn't happen- only when I hit the start button do the needles swing round plus the engine revs crazily high momentarily & then settles to idle. This shouldn't be as the other 50% of the time the start up procedure is normal. Anyone else experience this & if so what was the problem?

Picked up my CB1100-A on Friday. I had a 1975 Honda 750 back in 1979 and it was a great bike. My first ride on the CB1100 was a big surprise with its power. I have been riding a 1973 Suzuki GT750 for the past 10 years but I sold it last week to make room for the Honda. The GT750 was fast but nothing could have prepared me for how fast the CB1100 is. From what I have been reading I expected a slower bike. Looking forward to a lot of fun miles.
