Just discovered a very low cost product which merits a recommendation and short review. This company sells a gloss black, compact, lockable top case which is compatible with a CB1100 (especially the standard model in black for the color match). It will look great on the bike. It comes with a universal mounting plate kit, but the bike still needs to have a suitable rear carrier rack to mount it properly. Mine currently has a Kijima grab bar instead of a rack, so I am planning to use this on my Bonneville (which does have a luggage rack). It also includes a built-in back rest for your pillion rider and they may also be available painted in red to match the Deluxe. Amazon has them at a great price ($36.95 including shipping).

Haul Bikes 18 wheeler showed up with this in the back all the way from Colorado. 2015 Daytona 675R, only 1200 miles, for a relative song...amazing how reasonable low mileage, previously loved bikes are this time of year.

What a spectacular motorbike, just a stellar combination of engine, chassis and suspension. Ideal compromise between a 600 and a litre bike. That being said, I have no intention of adding this to the road going fleet for long. Will become a dedicated track bike, stashed at NJ Motorsports Park. It was the Ducati's turn in the rotation today, so away we went on a short 100-mile ride through the local mountains. Not bad for the end of November. It's a fun bike. Makes about 62 hp, fuel injected, six-speed, 390 lbs. Great fun.

Almost went down today and think i understand why.
after reading the sad post a few days back of the member who dropped his new bike right after buying it i understand more now.
traffic is heavy here like everywhere and so i had to take the opportunity to jump out into a hole that was open and no ABS can help you with this.
there was much sand at the intersection and the torque comes on quickly combined with the sudden response from the fuel injection i lost traction and did a really cool 180 in front of a lot of cars barring down on me and drove off in the opposite direction. kinda like peewee Herman i played like i planned to go the other way all along. " meant to do that " .
yesterday i rode the CB750K and it has so much less torque at low RPM's and the carbs come on and off so much slower i screwed up but looked so cool doing it and will only share my F-up with you guys so i hope you gain knowledge from this.

I really like that motorcycle.

I'm scratching my head these days. Last 2 tanks my mileage seems to have decreased from the 42/44mpg to 37/38mpg. No change in riding style really. Only thing that has changed is our weather temps have gotten colder. Otherwise....stumped. 2014 model/6speed.

To wrap up this last loose end, I am posting about the CB500F bar fitment and my modifications to just the inital swap of the CB500F bar for the CB1100s handlebar.

The fit was very good, as forum members can read in [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=980]ChipBeck's original thread about this mod. Then there was my [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9700]riser flip, which moved the low CB500F handlebars about another 3/4" further forward, which was just perfect for me.

The problem for me was the CB500F bars, even with the CB1100 internal and bar-end weights fitted, still vibrated excessively and were beginning to created issues for my hands. That stuff can be long-term and while grips can help the real solution is to use proper weights to damp the vibration.

I purchased all the OEM components for the weights originally fitted to the CB500F handlebars; internal weights, rubber grommets, end clips, bar-end weights, and Phillips mounting screws. All that stuff cost about another $60.00.

I immediately noted that the internal weights were half-again as long as those from the CB1100 handlebars, and they were made of a much denser metal, and were much heavier. The CB500F bar-end weights, while actually shorter, were also made of a dense metal and are heavier than the CB1100 bar-end weights.

I pulled out the CB1100 components from the CB500F handlebars which had been installed inside the bars during the initial modification, and replaced all components with those designed to fit the CB500F handlebars as installed on the CB500F originally.

The result was astonishing. The bike is virtually free of any kind of deleterious or intrusive vibration from 3,000 RPM to 5,000 RPM and above. It was so smooth I was revving right past my shift points and had to glance at the tach to make sure I wasn't overrevving. From 60-90 mph on the freeway, the bars are, for all intents and purposes, buzz-free. I test rode the bike at night and planned on just a short jaunt, but it was so incredibly pleasant and smooth, I put on about 65 miles of freeway riding. It's the smoothest bike I own now, and I'd consider this most likely the final modification.

My mods, for the record:

-Complete brake and clutch line replacements with Galfer stainless steel lines
-EBC HH sintered superbike pads for the front calipers
-Ikon shocks
-CB500F handlebars, flipped risers, CB500F OEM bar internals.
-Continental Road Attack II Classic Race tires
-OEM Engine guards

I doubt I will put any more money or effort into this machine as I could not be more pleased with it. I bought it in July, 2013 and it has a little over 10,000 miles now. The valve check was uneventful, no adjustments were needed. I hope to put on many more miles. This bike is a very nice contrast to the much more modern equipment I also ride.

Install a gel pad in my seat. I installed one on my 2001 CBR. What a blessing to my skinny butt.

Clean up wiring for my Nautilus horn, a mess under my seat.

Install shorty Emgo reverse meg muffler. Not a big fan of noise but it needs some growl.

Most important! New steering head bearing. somethings very wrong up there.
Noticed my front end seemed loose last spring. Ended up have a tank slapper at 95 mph one day while passing on I-94. Checked rotor runout, checked wheel runout, checked tire and checked fork tube alignment and tightness. Every thing within spec. pulled top tree, lock nut only finger tight. It took 3/4 turn of adjustment nut to get back in spec. Rode out to Colorado and back with no problem but noticed that it's starting to get loose again.

I've seen some derogatory online posts about the K&N 204 filters of late, so I'm going to change to this one and give it a try.
