The new 2017 Gixxer 1000 has what some think is the most advanced electronics package available on any production superbike.

Just sayin'.

This looks like a simple mod, if you can install them from the bottom end of the forks by temporarily taking off the front wheel like changing a flat. True or False?

Is this a Honda OEM part or do you have to get a set made for other bikes? Who has them? I think they would look good on an all black standard model.

Any feedback from those in the know? TIA.

Found a new 2013 about 60 miles from home . $6600 including tax,tags, title. I wanted a 6 speed but since I'll rarely ride over 75 miles an hour and am no tourer, think I got a great bike for the money. Yosh RS3 on order. Getting it tomorrow and will have 2 days with mid 60 degree weather before the 40's will be the norm. Really excited. Had a cb750k1 in 1972. I'll be 68 soon but will never stop riding til I'm dead

He's a guy who will never be writing for the New York Times. He's about as unpolitical as they come. But the words really are straight from the heart (whatever and wherever that is!).

This time he buys a used 1985 FZ750 and waxes nostalgic about what a great machine it was. I love the 750-class and had a lot of them, but always shied away from the extreme examples, like the early GSX-Rs and the FZ750 and YZF750. VFRs and Katanas were more my style. The Ninja 750 was also a very good all-rounder. A lot of guys were throwing the Gixxers down the road as well as the Yamahas. Not many of them left these days, but as Nick's buddy says,

"Funny thing is the guys that sold that stuff to me 15 years ago are now dying to revive their youth and wheelie that old Katana down the street again. That’s were I come in. I’m the dude that can pump up the blood of those aging 50-plus dudes with these bikes.”

Me, I don't buy old junk any more. I want something that runs and is modern. But it's fun reading about someone else's experiences, especially when they are in my locale and somewhat run parallel to my own.

What really strikes me about Nick is how enamored he is of this stuff. Guys are now willing to pay handsome sums of money to get their hands on this worn-out, archaic hardware, with its dripping, messy, smelly carburetors, lousy suspension, and skinny tires. Anyone remember how much work it is to rebuild a bank of four carbs, and the amount of gas and carb cleaning fumes inhaled in the process? Screw that, leave it to the sentimentalists, I say!

I do look forward to his work every week, though.

Tickets are now available for the 2017 MotoGP at Circuit of the Americas in Austin TX. It's April 21, 22, 23. If you want to spend $1200 or more, you can get a platinum ticket package with grandstand seating and a hotel stay. Or, you can pay $85 for a general admission pass ($130 for 3 days) and find your own place to stay. There are a lot of Airbnb places for less than $200.

The boys are out there right now, hauling the mail. Vinales looks great on the Yamaha, Rossi so far is the fastest man on the track, turning a 1:30.9.

The new bikes look phenomenal, some beautiful livery out there (Just have to use synecdoche once in a while).

I could not quite put my finger on it at first but I felt the bikes looked very sleek and nice.

Then I realized those stupid cowcatchers and surfboards were gone, leaving some very sleek fairings.

Good riddance to winglets.

Yamaha's new livery is stunning, not sure if it will remain for the racing but for the test season, it's gorgeous. Made up to look like a jet fighter, replete with the warning decals and safety orange borders.

I think I'll be getting one of these next year. 34 HP, 349 lbs wet. Inverted 41mm forks, good brakes with ABS, and I am pretty sure plenty of mods will be available. If not, Racetech can revalve the shock and do me up real well if the forks are too flaccid.

110 front and 150 rear, in 17" sizes, meaning lots of good rubber choices.

This thing should handle like a dream.

Power/weight, my Honda Hawk GT647 (long gone) made less than 40 HP at the rear wheel and weighed 414 lbs wet. Hard to contemplate that is what my 2012 GSX-R 750 weighs, with 127 HP at the rear wheel.

The G310R should be around in a few weeks, I'm lining up to get one, unless I see the quality is poor. BMW claim it's a first-rate bike. Anyone see one of these at the show?

Is this one of the better racks for a 2014 standard model (all black) CB1100?

I like the idea of it being upgradeable to hold cases with optional Givi products, but looks decent standalone.

All opinions and alternative suggestions welcome. TIA.
