Just got this Tuesday night off internet as a led headlight assembly and the headlight shell and ring from another supplier

It took about 2 minutes to pull the stock headlight and wiring and 10 minutes to assemble the new components, which fit together perfectly.

It appears to be about 2x brighter than stock.

Will take it out tonight for a distance comparison.

The upper halo glows white as a running light and switches to flashing yellow when directional are activated

I must admit I do like the looks of the alloy wheels on the 2014 Deluxe better than spokes on my 2017 EX. They just give the Deluxe a cleaner and shinier look. But when I stop for a break, it is the spoke wheels that draw mature riders to EX. I guess it is the 1970's retro look that appeals to them.

On another thread people had mentioned not liking spokes because cleaning them is a PITB. When I first got my EX I would agree. It seemed that cleaning the rim and spokes was necessary after every day ride because of chain lube fling.

Fortunately after switching to Tirox chain wax, there is no longer any grimy black grease on the rim or spokes. They do get dusty, but are much easier to clean.

Originally I used my Motul chain cleaner on paper shop towels to clean the rim of the greasy grime. For the spokes the cleaner was sprayed on a bristle brush. But it is rather unhealthy stuff, so now I only use it for my chain.

IPONE spray cleaner and polish is something I bought to clean my helmet and visor of bugs. But found it very useful for other cleaning chores because it cleans well and buffs to a clear and shiny finish. So now the rims and spokes stay cleaner. The bugs on the headlight, mirrors, horns, and forks are also easier to clean.

About the only job it can not tackle are the fried bugs on the four chrome headers. However Autosol metal polish and a stretchy sock will clean and polish them. I bought 20 pair of socks at Walmart for $10. They were not comfortable to wear, but are great throw away shop rags for this job.

I will share with You my experience with Daytona Blast Barrier on 2017 CB1100RS.
Bought at Webike/ Japan, set combine with windshield, product No 68303 and brackets type 61380. Yep, I have seen another member used different brackets for same screen



That brackets is very specific, have an extra inch of horizontal extension before pointing up - its allow to make proper angle of windshield, prevent it from touching the gauges and create some air gap between lamp and windshield ( in my own opinion is the basic to prevent from creating huge turbulence behind the screen )
Surprisingly, the two screws mounting is very solid, no need to modify the brackets at all . Night riding shows some cons - te windshield edges is lighting like a sci-fi holographic board, it's not interfere with your concentration but definitely make you shine on the street :-)

Look's not bad, isn't ? up to 100km/h the ride is pure pleasure, no pressure on the chest, clean windstream attack the helmet just above the neck - perfect, I wish ...

BUT...and its real issue, the fancy kink in the middle of the screen, create some unbelievable efekt when going faster! As the air stream in the middle is pointing upward and, at the same time, the side streams going lower - its create side turbulence - helmet is bouncing from left to the right and nothing can stop it! This phenomena starts above 100 km/h ( im 178 cm tall ) and not stoping until the top speed is reached. It's generating loud , low frequency noise as well .
Obviously on top speed solo , when I driving in proper "cafe racer" style, sitting on pilon seat , flat and extending my arm , it doesn't effect my joy and non-comfort :-)


So, the Daytona Turbulence Generator got another chance and has been cut off a little ;-) Just at the point where nice curvy screen transform into vertical "kink" - more less one inch in the middle

Final effect is maybe not so visually spectacular as original but - IT WORKS!









Test ride shows few interesting points:
- side turbulence ( bouncing head ) effect gone for good ( success !)
- arms protection is negligible (with some conditions )
- once 140 km/h is reached ( easy, very comfy ) the air-stream equalized and lift up
- shorter screen doesn't vibrate - not such as before for sure

Now you are probably thinking how objective my observations is...previous ( original ) setup has been tested for 700 km and today test take 100 km at 50 Fahrenheit with wind gusts up to 20 knots - winter is coming!

Well Happy Thanksgiving to all. It's finally starting to feel somewhat like winter here in Charleston. Woohoo...It's 52 degrees today. Last year I was wearing shorts at this time. Hope everyone gets their fill.

Hi:

I am considering putting somthinf to protect the tank from minor scratches from my "belly area".

I usually ride with leather jacket (leather covers the zipper, so there is no metal-to-tank contact), so, I am wondering:

-is it worth it?
-what is out there that doesn't look nasty on our CBs?
-has someone tried "helitape"? Does it work? does it last?
