Using earlier info from another forum member I performed the inexpensive airbox mod. Used 3M strong tape. Cut one length in half and made two rounds around stock filter. It’s airtight. Removing big restrictive snorkel and having Yoshimura slip on should all be within ECU parameters and help it breathe better, along with nice sound and a hair more HP/TQ.

Next up are the CNC black footpegs and brackets to go along with KH high seat for more comfort.

I know at least one member here traded in his CB1100 for a Z900 and I've heard nothing but good things about them so I thought I'd give one a try since there is a dealer not too far from me who actually allows test rides.

My first impression on approaching the bike is that it is small. There's no presence to it. When I sat on it I felt that there was nothing in front of me, especially compared to the GL1800C Valkyrie I ride.

The other member said he found the ergos quite comfortable. I found just the opposite. The front lean angle was "ok" -- I wouldn't want anything more than that but I could live with what it is but the backward knee angle was horrible -- incredibly cramped and noticeably worse than the CB1100, which itself is cramped.

The bike revved nicely in a way the CB1100 doesn't and it has noticeably better acceleration -- no complaints in that department.

I was looking forward to something with a slipper clutch because going from 2nd to 1st on the Valk is like hitting the brakes hard. I was surprised that it seemed too effective. By which I mean I would be in 6th and download to 5th expecting some engine braking and getting almost none. So, I'd drop to 4th and still little engine braking and so drop to 3rd. I guess that is something I'd get used to.

As for being light and maneuverable, well, I guess I don't ride hard enough (and certainly not on a test ride) to notice that much difference from my 754 pound Valk. I'm pretty sure that once I got comfortable with it and tested it harder the difference would become more apparent. My main complaint with the weight of the Valk is coming to stops. It is a bear in stop-and-go traffic.

I guess one thing not talked about in discussing older bikes and retros is that they are built longer and have a certain presence when you're sitting on them and I kind of miss that with these modern bikes. It will be interesting to see what the length of the new Z900RS is. I can already tell by looking at the photo of the cafe version that was posted that the backward knee angle is going to be a problem for some.

I'm having a Problem with chain lube flinging off the chain and getting on my jacket. My last bike, a 250 ninja never did this. I don't lube the chain on the cb any more or less than I did on the ninja. I'm suspecting the somewhat short chain guard on the Honda is the problem. Anyone else have this problem?

A good friend of mine just picked up a very clean 2007 cb900f (919 HORNET) it's a low mile 13,000 bike and been well kept I was more than willing to let him keep it at my house for the winter it gives us a reason to wrench on our stuff together on the weekends! having always been a fan of the cb 599 and 919 I'm stoked and thought I would share a couple pics of of some generations of cb's together!

Hi folks.

I am in charge of planning my riding crew's 2018 moto-vacation. I had a thought that I would like to combine my love of riding, food, and music into a week-long tour of American music.

My plan, as it stands now is to go from Chicago to Memphis, TN to Clarksdale, MS (maybe to Cleveland, MS) to Tupelo, MS to Muscle Shoals, AL to Nashville, TN to Owensboro, KY and then back home. All of those stopping points are significant locations in the history of blues, country, and bluegrass, although I confess to enjoying music more than knowing about its roots. That's where you may be able to help me.

I'm looking for points of interest, places to eat, and lodging ideas along that root. I think we will be staying (among other places) in Memphis, Greenwood, MS, Muscle Shoals, and Nashville. Probably stopping at French Lick, IN after Owensboro. OH...and routes! If you have good roads to suggest in any of these areas, please speak up.

Hey guys, just ordered a superbrace for my 14. Going with the black as well as the black fork seal protectors. Pretty excited to get it. Quick question though, do i need to loosen the axle as well as pinch bolts? Their tutorial video shows just pinch bolts but their instructions say axle too. Any input? Thanks!

cycle-ergo lists forward lean angle, knee angle, and hip angle. What I can't make sense of is hip angle. It seems to me that if it is the angle between the top of the thigh and the body that it is always going to be greater than 90 degrees but the numbers given are always smaller than 90 degrees.

So just what angle are they measuring?

I do hope that this has yet to be discussed on this forum. I did search for it a couple of times but came up empty.

Presently I either own or have owned three (3) different bikes in the past 2+ years. All three bikes pull to the right when I let go of the handlebar as I'm slowing to eventually stop. The Africa Twin does it the most, and by far the most. The CB1100 and the Yamaha FZ07 are basically the same in this regard with perhaps the CB1100 exhibiting this quality the least. I've used Google to find the answer but am left with no firm answer. Please allow me to now turn to this fine and informative forum for a solution. My guess is that this is caused by:

1) The Gyroscopic effect of "Engine Brake". This would account for the Africa Twin exhibiting this tendency the most and the CB1100 the least.
2) A misaligned rear wheel.
3) The crown in middle of the road (I don't think this is the answer as this pull-to-the-right is very consistent).

In the Gyroscopic effect, a turning wheel moves as though the force was actually applied 90 degrees down stream from the real point of pressure. The term down stream means in the direction of the spin.
