I put the MoTech bar risers on the CB today - what a difference! It puts me
into an almost neutral riding position with no weight on my arms or
shoulders. It goes up 1.2in and back 0.8in, which doesn't sound like
much but I sure can feel it. This bike is really starting to feel
like its mine.

As others have said, no adjustments or changes to cables, hoses, or wires were necessary.

With the windshield back on you can't really even see the risers. Speaking of windshields, that's what I need to figure out next. I've got the National Street Shield EX, which gives me too much buffeting and noise, but it works for the time being.

If only this bike was available here. Gorgeous.

since about two weeks I have a cb 1100 ex of 2015, purchased used with about 20000 km. But I have two doubts that I wanted to ask the most experienced:
1) the gearbox is very noisy, especially when I move from the first to the second gear, the noise is very loud, and also when I stop from third to second the noise makes itself felt. Is it normal? with the other gear I do not seem to have noticed this noise.
2) with the bike is warm , I seem to feel at the minimum, the noise of the chain of distrubution. Has anyone noticed the same noise? Does this bike have the chain tensioner to be able to adjust it in the case?

and finally, always when the motorcycle is warm, at minimum and accelerating slowly, I hear a noise coming from the right side of the engine, a noise like the gears that scratch, continuously proportional to the acceleration. experiences about it?

Alright my peeps, this is a short story on my Suzuki DR650, and it's oil. Oil brands are "A" "B" and "C".

Factory fill on the 2017 bike was unknown, and changed at the 600 mile break-in service.

Oil "A" was added at 600 miles by the dealer until 2000 miles. All oil mentioned here was 10W40 motorcycle oil.

I used the bike to commute to work 120 miles roundtrip on the exact same route, using the exact same gas at the exact same pump.

After 11 trips, this was the average miles to reserve and average mpg

Average miles to reserve: 112

Average mpg: 44.9 mpg


At 2000 miles I drained and changed the oil to brand "B". I took six roundtrip commutes using the same route. To me, the bike felt like it was breaking in again, shifting was notchy and the bike just didn't seem happy. Below is the mpg for each trip and best and worst miles to reserve:

Lowest miles to reserve: 99.7
Highest miles to reserve: 107.1

MPG:

Trip 1 = 41.9
Trip 2 = 42.4
Trip 3 = 42.6
Trip 4 = 42.1
Trip 5 = 42.8
Trip 6 = 43.1

Avg= 42.5


Not happy, I drained and switched to Brand "C" at 2750 miles.

I noticed right away the bike shifted smoother within a few miles and seemed to rev freely again. After one 120 mil round trip, check this out:

Miles to reserve: 117.1
MPG = 46.75

Folks, that is a 10% increase in MPG in just the first trip, that can not be a coincidence. I'm a believer!

Brand A = Suzuki EcStar
Brand B = Honda GN4
Brand C = Amsoil Metric 10W/40

I am not an Amsoil salesman nor do I have any financial stake in the company.

But...Amsoil did a study on 32 motorcycle oils and in the 40 weight class oil Honda's GN4 finished 12th out of 15 oils!

All I know, on my CBs I will run the Honda oil until 2000 miles and then I am switching to Amsoil. Honda makes great bikes, but for me, their oil did not work well at all in my DR650! Not even as good as the Suzuki OEM oil..

Ferret's right. Climbing off a large and loaded sport-tourer (two-up) and onto the CB, it feels like a featherweight. I've always felt my DLX was a bit porky and didn't quite understand his perspective, but now I do. After a 4-day trip on the RT, my CB felt like a minibike today.

Last time I road I filled the 2013 with shell premium (91 octane here in CO). I took the bike out yesterday afternoon and it was hot 95+. The bike was purring like a kitten. Don't know if it was the gas but man she was running even smoother than normal in temperature conditions that would not be condusive. Gonna fill her with the same gas and check the mileage next time out.

I have 2 short 6 led light strips, each with 2 small wires, one red and one black.

Question, is, is it ok / possible to attach these to my front turn / running lights?

However I only want to attach them to the running light only, not the turn signal.

Do I need anything special? Plead advise!

Roper is right. Made by Happy Trails out of Boise, Idaho. $150.00 out the door from their shop with tax. Was a second. customer brought it back and said there was a blemish. I looked at the box for 5 minutes and it was flawless. Owner is on-site and has exceptional customer service skills.

I know the boxy aluminum clashes with the late 60's good looks of the CB. I use the CB for long, extended weekend rides were I usually end up camping off the bike in remote spots. So I was looking for something that could swallow a lot of that gear and still have space on top or on the seat in front of it with waterproof duffels. This fit the bill.

I had planned to remove it when not in use. Removal is quick via the 4 bolts holding it to the stock Honda rack. But, its practicality is such that I've kept it on there full time. It's nice to run and grab a sandwich or other stuff for the office, haul a laptop etc. without being forced to consider using the car/truck.
