Hello to all,
since about two weeks I have a cb 1100 ex of 2015, purchased used with about 20000 km. But I have two doubts that I wanted to ask the most experienced:
1) the gearbox is very noisy, especially when I move from the first to the second gear, the noise is very loud, and also when I stop from third to second the noise makes itself felt. Is it normal? with the other gear I do not seem to have noticed this noise.
2) with the bike is warm , I seem to feel at the minimum, the noise of the chain of distrubution. Has anyone noticed the same noise? Does this bike have the chain tensioner to be able to adjust it in the case?
and finally, always when the motorcycle is warm, at minimum and accelerating slowly, I hear a noise coming from the right side of the engine, a noise like the gears that scratch, continuously proportional to the acceleration. experiences about it?

My gearbox (13) is a little clunky. Make sure your chain tension is in spec. Apparently these bikes are very sensitive to that. Mine is in spec and still makes a racket.
Possibly the fuel injectors you are hearing? Weirded me out the first few times I heard it too.

Have you checked your oil level? Low oil can certainly bring out the noise.

the engine oil level is at maximum.
not even on the old cb 500 four, which I had up to a month ago, the exchange was so noisy.
but in particular, the passage between the first and second gear is really noisy, as when the first is grafted from the neutral, perhaps even stronger. I do not really know if it can be considered norma

Mine definitely makes a healthy “click” when shifting from neutral to first and usually again from first to second. I think it’s normal for this bike.

Same here Vince, cb550 is barely noticeable compared to cb1100.
the primary gearshaft and the plates in the clutch basket just take a lot of stopping when engaged in first and it gets more pronounced with higher idle speed, like others have said make it a deliberate tap, just quick enough without forcing the mechanism.
and when shifting between gears try to get the revs in sync (anticipate ) so the difference is minimal
As far as the gear scratching; can you hear anything with engine off on centerstand and rotating rear wheel in either direction and can you make a video so we have a better idea?

Mine is like KiowaEagle’s.
Right side at the bottom is where the balancer is. It can be ajusted for lash. Maybe thats the noise.

This would be the first thing that I would check. Make sure that your drive chain tension is set near the minimum recommendation per the manual. The adjustment can be made at the end of the swingarm.
Secondly, you can also adjust the crankshaft balancer backlash as popgun has mentioned. There is a specific procedure for this as mentioned in the service manual.

Vince- if you are not confident in your ability to adjust the crankshaft balancer I would have it done by a mechanic, not that its hard but you want it done correctly. IIRC there is a pretty detailed explanation of drive chain adjustment in the owners manual. Also check the condition of the drive chain and sprockets, 20km shouldn't wear them out but extended riding with the chain out of adjustment may have caused premature wear.
