  Lucas Style Tail Light
Posted by: ArizonaKid_imp - 02-10-2019, 06:15 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (3)

I have a 2017 CB1100EX and wanted to mount a Lucas style tail light in place of the huge OE tail light, so. . . I bought a used 2014 rear fender (didn't want to modify the OE fender in case I wanted to put it back to stock) and the other bits and pieces I thought I needed and made the modifications. I used a Lucas style frame/mount from Dime City Cycles and a nice Joker Machine LED tail/brake light with a nice cushy rubber gasket between the tail light frame and fender. It turned out really well I think, except for one problem I discovered at the end of my project. The front end of the 2014 fender is significantly different than the front end of a 2017 fender and I won't be able to mount it on the bike -- Crap! The back end is also a little different with the various holes in different places and such, but those differences made the mounting of the tail light much better. Anyway, if anyone with a 2014 wants to make this very simple change to your 2014 CB1100 let me know and maybe we can work out something. Pics and details are available for the asking. The fender was $114, the Joker Machine light $110 and the tail light frame/mount about $60. With the mounting hardware (fasteners, spacers, electrical connectors, etc, etc.) it all ran me close to $300 for parts alone, let alone my time. Anyway, the whole thing is available for a fraction of that, if anyone is interested.

Key Blank Info for ‘14 CB1100?
Posted by: suhawk305 - 02-08-2019, 08:21 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (61)

Recently there was a discussion about “flat” keys cut by a locksmith for our CBs. I know the Ferret was part of that discussion.
I just got had one cut, it will reluctantly go into the ignition cylinder, but the key will not turn. I believe the key blank is correct, but the key cut is off.

Question: what brand and number key blank are you guys have so I can verify the locksmith is using the correct key blank?

What I have: ilco X265, HD109.
According to the ilco web site, this is a Honda motorcycle key blank.

  New Dealership
Posted by: Obliviontoad - 02-08-2019, 03:07 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (7)

I have been bemoaning the lack of a local dealership since the last one imploded due to reasons too numerous to list.
My local Kawasaki/Triumph dealership has been trying to pick one up for years, and complained bitterly about Honda's requirements to do so. Separate space, no shared counters, parts and service kept in its own area.
Well, I don't know, and won't complain about the reasons why, but they were just given a franchise, and in a few months they should be up and running. No more 80 mile trips for RLETS for me...

  First Video Onboard My CB

Hey all,

I threw together a short video of a ride I did to Tucson, AZ. It was about 260 miles roundtrip from my house and mostly a straight shot so not too exciting, but I'm trying to get back into making videos. So hopefully they'll get better.

Happy days!

Ignition Starter 2017 on 2013 Bike
Posted by: cb1100_dude_imp - 02-06-2019, 01:33 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (24)

Hello,

Does anyone know if a 2017 ignition key starter will fit on a CB1100?

Looking to buy a new 2017 with matching gas cap so I can only use one key for my 2013 bike with the newer gas tank.

Thank you!

L
