I’m finally catching up on some old bills today and just opened a letter from motorcycle consumer news’ publisher telling the news that they are ceasing publication immediately. Am I reading that right?

Feeling very sad that it is an end of an era and one that has been an important part of my motorcycling journey over the past three or so decades.

Does anyone know more of the story? Any links to direct me to? Any way of accessing old issues? Thanks to you all.

Some people have posted similar videos, but more people still have asked what they sound like. I had a friend with a decent mic and he happened to have it while we were riding around, so I tried to make a quick clip showing what these pipes sound like! Hope the audio comes through despite the huge wind. This is the Pipemasters 4-4 and there's a K&N filter on the bike as well, both from the previous owner. I like the pipes and they sound great (albeit a little different from the saddle given the gearbox and other general engine noises you get). Hope this helps people searching to find out what these sound like.

And for people who keep saying otherwise, yes that IS the center stand, they both fit just fine on the EX at least. Yes, you can have a pipe masters exhaust and a center stand at the same time. The best of both worlds!

Okay, I'm making this up, but with the successful application of the 125cc Grom engine in the Monkey, Super Cub, and now the Hunter Cub, I'd love to see Honda reintroduce the SL70 using the same engine. I imagine a lot of dads my age would be buyers. Come on Honda, do it!

I play one video game and one game only. Destiny 2. A post apocalyptical (epic in scope) looter/shooter set 600 years into the future. Thanks to the self-quarantine/isolation I'm getting my fill of it and decided to take a break and put something up on the board. A little while back I had an email discussion with Ferret and he stated it's been slow on the site (due to winter). Thought I'd do my part and maybe create a little traffic. NOTHING gets a motorcycle blog going like a Harley thread on a non-Harley site.

You can read my previous thread on the subject of how I came into owning a 2005 Harley Davidson Road King on 30 Aug 19. Fast forward 7 months later....

I've been riding it steady for the past 7 months and the other three bikes are struggling to get into the rotation. Part of that reason is that the winter configuration I put the bike garage into resulted in the King sitting up front and being the easiest to access. The other half is...well I just plain like riding it. It has that non-sterile mechanical feedback that the Guzzi and XR1200 provide. It has a very comfortable seat and locking storage and an around town range of almost 200+ miles.

While I really liked the protection of the original quick release wind shield (exceptional wind deflection and no additional noise/buffeting behind it) it was right in my sightline and there was a little distortion just below the top edge as I looked straight forward. That bugged the heck out of me so I got an HD OEM screen (as shown below) 4 inches shorter and used the original quick release mount to put it on the bike. Looked great but resulted in a huge increase of noise. I suspect there's just a tiny bit of vibration at the upper edge resulting in a significant increase of noise to the rider as the helmet is not in a purely undisturbed wind stream.



So looked around a local internet flea market site and found a Harley OEM tinted screen with quick release mounts for sale for $100. Takes the pressure off my chest and keeps my helmet in a clean airstream with greatly reduced noise from the previous 4-6 inch taller screen.



Someone on this site reminded me of the 88 motors propensity to have issues with the cam chain tensioners. I knew the bike was getting up there in miles and that this could be a problem. Made plans to have it checked and the hydraulic plate upgrade done and possibly replace the cam since they were in there with one that gave a little more performance. Mind you not that I felt that it needs it because of how relaxed I ride it but plainly since I was going to already be into it for the labor cost. I was thinking $1400-$1600. Turned out when they got the motor open the first owner (a friend of mine) already had it done and so all the dealer did was put in a set of slightly large valves to help with oil consumption due to the high mileage on the motor. Left the dealership after paying $740.00 with an additional $700 in my pocket. Smiled all day.

Bikes been running fine. Not a canyon carver but then that's not what I use it for. Thankfully, I have a relatively flat driveway as the 780 pounds would be a handful otherwise.

I put on the sissy bar and Barcalounger seat it came with just to see what it looked like. I NEVER ride two up and didn't like the look so removed it and put the solo seat back on along with a chrome seat rail I purchased on line. Like the way it adds to the overall classic look with the white walls. Also replaced the clear driving lights with yellow lenses



Took it last Saturday up a local road to a ski resort. First time the roads been clear enough for me to do it in 2020. The resort had just been closed at noon due to the covid stuff so traffic coming down the mt. was heavier than usual at that time. Nice and brisk at my turn around spot.



I was at the HD dealer after the ride up the mt and they had this sitting on the floor. Comes both in this blue and a red version. Limited to 700 bikes (each?). I'm a sucker for the old AMF 1 decal even though the bikes from that era still project their reliability shortcomings on the current crop of Harleys. I WAS thinking about it. However, the $30K tag put me off. Along with the fact that there's no doubt its smoother, more powerful, more refined than my current HDRK. That's the primary reason I walked away. I'd miss that mechanical feedback in this style bike.

Have really enjoyed my 2013 CB from new but have just turned 80 and the weight of the bike is getting too much for me.
Traded her in last week and took a Suzuki RV 125 van van in part exchange - looked after the bike and got 1/2 the price i paid for it.
Thank you all for your help over the years and sorry to be leaving the community - and even more sorry to be leaving that awesome in line 4.

I have a non ABS 2013 and I am exploring what would be involved to add ABS to it.

Any advise would be welcome. It's probably not worth it but I thought I would ask.

Honda Japan just unveiled a new concept bike reminiscent of the 1979-1982 CB750F-CB900F and Freddie Spencer AMA Superbikes. It appears to be Neo Sports-Cafe CB1000R based, and looks to be a no-brainer for production.

It was at their "virtual motorcycle show" today, as the 2021 Osaka and Tokyo Motorcycle Shows have been cancelled. You can see (but not hear about it) at about the 5:05 mark here: https://www.honda.co.jp/motorcycleshow/
