YouTube Video Player (Full vs Short YouTube Videos)
Posted by: rdprdp01 - 09-05-2025, 11:34 PM - Forum: Release Notes - Replies (2)

The YouTube Video Player embedded in the Post Engine will play only YouTube Videos, not YouTube Short Videos.

YouTube Videos have controls that enable users to control playback. Content length is controlled by the person or group publishing the video on YouTube and are often produced with powerful digital cameras. YouTube Short Videos do not have the same control, can last for only 60 seconds, and are built in hopes of motivating you to watch one "Short" after another. Short YouTube Video are displayable only in Vertical Mode and are usually produced with a smartphone.

If you want to share a YouTube Short, please post the YouTube link to the short video. If you want to share a full-length YouTube Video, consider using the Video Plugin in the Post Engine.

Have a great weekend. David

  Accessory Install: SW-Motech Top Case
Posted by: rdprdp01 - 09-04-2025, 05:10 PM - Forum: How To . . . - Replies (4)

There is a great convenience factor that happens when you equip your motorcycle with luggage. For the kind of riding I do, a SW-Motech Urban Top Case is a great fit. I documented in the following Thread why I selected the SW-Motech Urban Case and what it has enabled for me:

https://cb1100forum.net/forum/showthread...#pid270379

For those interested in doing your own install work, this Thread documents the installation process.

Step 1: Receive the Top Case and inspect the box for any sign of damage. All SW-Motech Products are manufactured in Germany and shipped. Check for any impact damage and take pictures if something is found:

Step 2: Carefully unpack the Top Case. Note that SW-Motech is a world-class supplier. Be careful with box cutters and blades. Everything is tightly packed to reduce damage and weight. Be careful while using a blade to open a box or pouch:

Step 3: Inspect the Top Case and all of its components. Review the installation documentation to confirm that everything has shipped and has arrived without damage:

Step 4: Prepare and organize your work area. You will need a torque wrench to complete the installation properly:

Step 5: Review the instruction instructions and organize your parts staging such that your parts align with each step.

Step 6: Open the case and flip up the inner lining so you have clear access to install the form rubber base and stabilizing cover plate. Use a standard driver for feeding the screws and then use a torque wrench to tighten all screws to 2.5 N-m. Follow the instructions carefully to ensure that all spacers are installed properly. Those spacers will ensure a snug fit and prevent noise and vibration. When everything is torque properly, then install the screw covers and return the inner lining to the "inside" of the Top Case.

Step 7: Attach the straps to the top case:

Step 8: Secure the Top Case to your seat or rear carrier using the straps. Note that straps should be snug but not stressfully tight. The Top Case sits well on a CB1100 and will not shift as long as the four corners of the Top Case are securely strapped to the mounting posts on the motorcycle.

Came across this video, and wasn't so much interested in the review as I was in this particular color scheme, one of my favorites.

  Enhanced Like Functionality: Unlike Option
Posted by: rdprdp01 - 09-01-2025, 09:36 AM - Forum: Release Notes - Replies (7)

Good morning,

Please be advised that several Members have reached out to Moderators asking for the ability to alter a "Like" selection after it has been applied to a Post. As more of us use phones and touch screens to access our Forum, it can sometimes be challenging to select the intended icon.

When you "Like" a post now, please note that an "Unlike" option appears in the Post. If you want to make a change, please select "Unlike." Your notation will be removed. Then you can select "Like" again and make the appropriate selection. See attached screenshots.

Of all the things we have worked on, the "Like" system appears to be the most frequently used plugin. We are delighted that is the case. Share the love and let Forum Members know how you feel.

Have a great day.

David

  2026 Rally Location Ideas
Posted by: pdedse - 08-31-2025, 04:39 PM - Forum: Meet Ups & Gatherings - Replies (48)

Per request, we are starting a new sticky (or pinned) thread on ideas for 2026 CB1100 rally location suggestions / ideas.  I suspect the request is for ideas for another "east" rally, but let's leave this open for the moment.  Should south and/or west locations come up and it looks like one will pan out, we can create another thread for that possibility.  But it seems to me that any and all locations are of interest for the moment.

Topeka, Kansas anyone?

I jest...I was born there. Cool

Good afternoon. Old nerd that I am, I love reading and learning and researching. I find the posts on our Forum insightful, engaging, entertaining, and occasionally hilarious. The MyBB Platform servers us well for the most part. However, I respectfully assert that there is one missing component: a gallery view of a series of images that gives us easy scrolling, copying, and forwarding capabilities of images.

We have done the design work to create a custom plugin to augment the MyBB base capabilities for images. That plugin represents a serious investment of both time and money. As we explored other alternatives, we turned to Imgur or other Hosting Services to see if we could possibly leverage their Album View functionality to achieve something similar. The results of that R&D can be found in a New Child Forum we added today called CB1100 Image Gallery under the Media Center. If you have time, we would welcome some feedback and guidance. We work for you. We want to make the Forum as good as it can be and most importantly do justice to capturing those moments on your motorcycle you care to share with Forum Members.

This image gallery does require Members to use the Imgur Service or something similar. It also requires members to be use the embed link feature in our Post Editor. But before we document the "how" to create an Image Gallery, I want to make sure my Forum brothers and sisters believe it is worth doing.

We have created two Test Galleries for your review. They can be found at the following link:

https://cb1100forum.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=45

If you are so inclined, check them out and add a post to this Thread and share your thoughts. We would benefit from a dialogue from the Members. We would also welcome your answer to the Poll Question.

Thanks for everything you do for me when you share your experiences. More often than not, the best part of my day is spent checking out Threads and Posts on the Forum. Have a great week. David
