How about a winter-time thread since it's a bit slow around here...

When did you buy your current CB1100? Have you owned more than 1?  New...used...miles / kilometers...and maybe the earliest photo you have of your CB1100?  

I bought my 2017ex in Feb of 2018.  It was a new left-over on sale and I drove 4 hours to a dealer east of Seattle to pickup it home.  It has just under 31k miles.

 
I also had a 2014 Standard; I also bought it on sale as a left over, back in Jan of 2015.  I owned it 2.5 years and traded it in for a Triumph Speed Twin. It had around 14k miles when I let it go.



Would love to hear stories of your CB1100 acquisition.

How about a lighter 4 cylinder CB750 aircooled with 4 exhaust pipes. 

Plus a possible CBX 800 SEI liquid cooled and inverted forks in the drawing board

I came across this top speed test video:


Speed limiter kicks in at 180 km/h, speedo showing 190 km/h, same like the CB 1100.

I sold my 2014 CB1100, but took off the suspension bits I had installed last year. Ikon shocks. Price will be $350 plus shipping.

Only have about 3,000 miles on them. Made the bike ride night and day better from stock!

I stumbled across an updated Honda Global website this morning.

In the menu "Business & Innovation" click on "Motorcycles". At the bottom of that page there's a link to "After Sales". Then, amongst all sorts of links on that page, again at the bottom, there's a link to "Motopub" where you can find a limited number of manuals in various countries. More work on the site is clearly needed, but you never know, you may find something useful there.

I am looking forward to completing my annual motorcycle maintenance on Christmas Eve this year. It is a present I have opted to give myself: some quality time pampering the CB1100EX!

One item on the list is bleeding the brakes and clutch. This year, I plan for the first time ever to reverse bleed my brakes and clutch systems. My inspiration for this pivot came courtesy of a RevZilla Video I saw while scrolling for tools:



From an engineering / design perspectives, I can see how the "bubbles" could be easier to disperse if the fluid is moving "up" to the reservoir as opposed to "down" through the bleed valve on a caliber. But as logical as that may sound,  my experience working in the energy sector has taught me that trapped air can sometimes have a mind of its own!   

That is why I went looking for a kit that had a back-pressure valve to help me manage flow. I found an incredibly affordable kit on Amazon. Please see Meonum 2 Pack Brake Bleeder Kit. Pictures follow.

If this experiment works, I will be delighted to reduce time and the amount of fluid I typically use. If it fails spectacularly, I can always revert to a traditional bleeding of the brake and clutch systems.

I follow many motorcycle mechanics on YouTube. The Flying Lumpia is one of those. He has a vibe and tone about him that is engaging and is relatable. He is a track guy who rides every day, ocassionally as a hooligan street racer.

He found a way to use the back pressure valve in a traditional brake-bleeding scenario:



I am cautiously optimistic things will work because of the engineering behind the ABS system on my motorcycle. God Bless Honda for nice clean cabling that moves predominantly upward. I will include that analysis in the "How To" I will publish on Christmas Eve.

Hello all - I just purchased a 2014 CB1100 and found this site.  It's already helped me with finding the right oil filter and crush washer sizes so I can give it a service over the holidays - thanks to The Feret and Suhawk305 for their posts on this in back in 2020!  The Honda joins a 2025 Suzuki GSXR 750 and a 1995 Ducati 900 SS/SP in the garage, which is also home to a 1986 Porsche 911.  Looking forward to learning from the brain trust here, and I will post my attempts at maintenance for your amusement.  Cheers all, Jeb

I thought it would be interesting to see what shipping your bike looks like.  I sold my 2021 W800 to a gentleman near Carson City, NV.  Once I received payment I sent him title and keys and he arranged a pickup and delivery using Haulbikes.  A driver texted me a few days ago and said sometime between today and Monday.  He texted again today at 2pm and we agreed on around 7:00 this evening.

The back door is hydraulic, and folds out and down, and then serves as a platform to raise the bikes.  


Two levels and so he ties the bike down on the ramp and we elevate to the second floor.


4 bikes already picked up today; the Vespa on the right is what he rides once he's done for the day.  He's done some things to it; it sounded mean! 


The driver says each level can hold up to 15 bikes; some are too long to go across, but not the W

The bike gets strapped by the handlebars to the walls, and then two more straps to the floor.  It looked solid.


He had 1 more to pick up in Salem for tonight, about an hour south of where I live.  Then 9 more stops tomorrow and Monday and then he arrives in Las Vegas, his home base.  The bike then gets loaded onto another truck and makes its way back north to Carson City.  He said he works all the western states.  Two weeks ago he left Vegas and dropped off bikes all over CA, OR and WA, all the way up to the Canadian border.  Then he picks up bikes on his way back to Vegas.  From arrival tonight to departure, took less than 30 minutes; he had to take lots of photos and video of the bike before loading.  

The buyer paid $700 for the service.  

It was a tough decision to sell the W800 and I'll miss it, but I'm still having fun trying out different bikes. And in the back of my mind, I know that retirement could be as soon as 1 year away.  That means relocating to Tucson for the winter months and splitting time there and in Costa Rica.  So I have a year to get my new KLX300 ready.  Either it, or my DR650 will head to CR and the other will stay in AZ.  The CB1100 stays Stateside as well.

That's the plan anyway, we'll see how it all works out.
