In December 2019, I saw a white 2010 CB1100 being prepped for sale at a local dealer.

I didn't recognise the bike as belonging to a member of the forum, I noticed it had RLETs which made me think the owner had, at least, spent time hanging around here.

Today, I was passing another dealer and saw a white CB1100 with an interesting paint job on the tank and stopped to have a look. I suspect it's the same bike, although with the addition of pannier racks, a new seat and a windscreen. Notice the red marker on the end of the swinging arm bolt cover? And the RLETs and the mirrors?

I got home and looked up [url=https://www.teammoto.com.au/used-bikes/for-sale/honda/cb1100f/2010/1540777]the advertisement on the dealer's website and discovered that it used to belong to CTsCB. He was based in Western Australia. That he was a member of the Forum explains the RLETs. It also made me wonder how many of the 15,500 kms on the odometer were added riding the bike across the country (more than 4,500 kms). If it was ridden over, it's the second CB1100 I know of to make the crossing.

My recent purchase a 2015 sa-e has come to me without the owners manual in with the documents, and its not in the place under the seat either. I've downloaded a copy but would like a hard copy to keep. If any one has one to sell or knows where to buy one that would be great.

Well, besides the oil, the garage also changed the clutch on my 40,000km, 2013 CB1100 (it didn't really need it, but I thought it will be ready for one soon anyway so why not? - the clutch plates are pretty standard parts). They also changed the head gasket, which was leaking tiny amounts of oil, but made it look a little dirty.

Note I'm in Vietnam so labour costs are really small. but parts can take a long time to arrive and be costly.

Anyway, now it clicks when I accelerate - it seems to be related to the speed of the vehicle, rather than the engine RPM. The volume isn't too bad, just noticeable at low revs before it gets drowned out by engine noise at higher revs (loud exhaust mandatory for Vietnam).

I took it back and they (say they) checked it over and they think the cam chain is a little loose/worn. I searched this site and found a few possibilities (e.g. http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread....=Clicking) - which suggests: 1. the cylinder head might not have been screwed back on very well, 2. fuel pump, 3. oil

The oil that was in it was Motul 10W50 synthetic - it's a hot country
He's taken out this (almost new) oil, and replaced it with 10W40
And they say they checked everything they had touched, including reseating the head again.

Does anyone want to guess that this is the most likely reason for the clicking noise, in combination with the cam chain being worn perhaps? How far do these suckers travel before things like this need to be changed? Who's winning the ODOMETER marathon? Surely we are seeing many on 100,000 miles by now - perhaps even 200,000? I'm on 40,000, and until now, have been very happy with reliability - marvellous comfy bike. My daughter also uses it to pick up boys as you can see in the picture.

The CB350 is no longer just for the Indian market. It's going to start selling in Japan. So maybe there's hope it will eventually come to the states...

There's also speculation that there could be Cafe and Scrambler models. Nope for me on a cafe version. However, a scrambler version is interesting. A 350 thumper would be just about perfect on all the dirt roads around here.

Does anybody know if the valve clearances are the same for the cb1100ex (2017 onwards) and the older model.
Mine is coming up to the 8000 miles mark now and looking at the forum information it looks alot harder than on my bandit 600. As there is no workshop manual for this bike I would be greatful for any information.

Getting ready to re-shim my valves after 52K miles. Recommended shim sizes (per calc) either put new clearance on low side or high side of spec (IN 0.006, EX 0.011). I noticed, via calcs, that I could deviate from the recommended shim size to push new clearance from low side to high side or vice versa, while still staying within spec range of +/- 0.001. WHY? Because I noticed that the measured clearances historically show the EXHAUST getting tighter (or staying the same) and the INTAKE getting looser.

The recommended shim size for EXHAUST is fine, but I have two choices for INTAKE. For INTAKE I have choice of 0.065 (recommended) or 0.051 new clearance. I was thinking I should pick 0.051 with the assumption that they will loosen over time.

General mech theory states that looser is safer. Am i crazy to go to the tight side? Thoughts?
