So, the first thing I did to my bike was apply 3M clear bra material to the rear of the tank. I took lots of pictures of the process in case anyone else is interested. I just thought I would gauge interest before I uploaded all the pics and wrote a how-to. All I'll say is it's just a nice feeling to never again have to worry about scratching the rear of that pretty tank!

I would also be willing to mail the template I cut to whoever is interested in using it. I don't really want to become a mail department, so I would probably leave it up to the members to mail it around to other members, or, if someone else wanted to, they could make copies and mail them to other members. I will however, mail it to the first person who requests it. Having the template would make the clear bra install process much easier for folks who've never custom cut a template before. As an added bonus, I cut the template in such a way that it also prevents the seat from scuffing the paint where it contacts the tank.

Anyways, I recall promising to write a clear bra how-to some time ago on the ADV CB1100 thread, so here I am, ready to show the way for anyone who's interested.

Yesterday we went up Palmoar mt, the CB11 handled great!

After we rode down, one of us was far behind and ended up taking a wrong turn. While we waited, my friend noticed his R1 looked kinda funny, kicked his rear tire and his boot went INTO it His tire was going FLAT! Long story short, he thought he had road side assistance and I had to give him a ride to his place (45 miles away) to pick up his truck. This is the same friend who gives me crap about not getting a sport bike, he really didn't want to ride with me haha so I am mainly posting this picture hoping he finds it if he ever googles his last name.

He ended up somewhat enjoying the ride, he never grabbed on to me and he said it was comfortable. I forgot my spanner wrench so I didn't adjust the rear supsension, they were on 2nd out of the...5 settings. But the CB11 did just fine even with the 315lbs load + our gear, did waaaay better than my Nighthawk did with my wife and me in fact. Now I really look forward to giving my old lady a ride.
I wonder what mileage I got out of this ride. Going up Palomar I was going up about 5 miles in 2nd gear, and half the tank was riding 2 up averaging 45 mph. I won't fill up until the weather gets better and I ride again.

Anyone know how easy or difficult the valve check procedure is on these bikes?

I had a 2001 gs500e that really benefited from ethanol-free gas. It started easier and ran smoother. I guess it was supposed to help keep the tank and fuel system healthier too. Now that I've got the very modern CB1100, should I keep with the ethanol-free if I can?

So to day was the slimy curd rally. It is always the first Sun. in May.
It is held in two places Pine Bluff Wi and Layland Wi.
I could go on about this rally that is not a rally and how it got started but that would take pages and pages. You can find more about it on the internet. What it is everyone shows up to show their bike and then ride to
Leland if you want. I was not feeling well but for once the weather was good so I know it would be a big turnout. I wanted to see whet people
would say about the CB1100 mixed in with all the weird and expensive
bikes. There was a lot of people asked about it or told stories about their
single cam Honda's . I also had a chance to see some of my old customers,
I even saw one of my big store stickers on a case of a BMW and saw two
people wearing my old store T-shirts.There was so many bikes this year
I know I walked up and down the street for more then 2 miles and still did not see them all.I will try to post some pic. but am not to good at it.

Heading up highway 47 towards Vernonia, the train tracks have been converted to a (bi)cycle path. You can see where part of of the trail crosses the highway over the awesome old bridge.





North of Vernonia is some of the nicest riding, unfortunately the pavement isn't so hot in this stretch. Towards the end of the video, you can hear my forks bottoming out over a pothole.

Who has actually gone through and read the owners manual......hmmm???

I found something a bit....."odd".....you might say within those pages that I felt I should point out and get some reactions to it.

I headed out today for a bit more highway time and to check on how my CB is fairing in the MPG department (I've been getting less than 40 mpg in the stop 'n go city traffic that is my weekday commute). I got in around 150 miles total today but filled up before receiving any kind of warning from the instrument panel. My travels included [url=http://oregonmotorcyclist.com/ridepage.php?page=hwy47]this beautiful stretch of road. The CB performed really well on this trip and the plentiful torque allowed me to work through all of the twists & turns with far less shifting than I've been used to. Temps were in the 80's and there was abundant sunshine. All in all it was just about a perfect day for a ride. The exception being that I got stuck in bumper-to-bumper stop 'n go traffic crawling along at a snail's pace for about 15 minutes on Hwy 26 before I could turn off onto Hwy 47. Even with that setback, I averaged 53 mpg today and am quite happy with that.

Before making my way out of the city, I stopped by the local Ducati dealership to see what they had on hand for tail bags. While I was there every employee that happened to be outside stopped by to look at the CB, all of whom were extremely complimentary of the bike. I was surprised to see it garner so much attention at a place full of Italian exotica, but it was a big hit.
