I took delivery of my CB at the end of March and now, with just under 1500 miles, the bike is back at the dealer awaiting a diagnosis to my engine noise. I took the bike back to the dealer at ~150, ~400, ~600 (first service), and now at just under 1500 miles, each time telling the service dept lead that there are noises coming from the motor that appeared to be intermittent. Dealer was unable to hear what I had been hearing since I purchased the bike, until Friday when I dropped the bike off after finally being able to localize the noise while parked. To me, the noise appears to be coming from the front, lower engine case right about where the oil cooler lines enter/exit the motor. Anyway, the dealer finally heard what I was hearing and they won't have a diagnosis until next week. I was told they'd be calling Honda to see if there have been any issues with the motor.

I've babied this bike since day-1. Short shifting and varying engine speed below 5k for the first 600 miles. Since the 600 miles service, I've opened it up a bit more, but I haven't hit 7k+ more than once or twice.

At first, either I, or the dealer, attributed the odd noises I heard to helmet vents (Shoei NeoTec) or my 8+ years away from riding. Coming off a 2002 Honda 919 (18k miles in 25 months of ownership), the air-cooled CB1100 was a different sounding bike to what I am accustomed to.

I hope to know more by mid-week.

On my rear wheel there are 8 weights right at the yellow circle on the tire and the yellow dot on the rim. The tire mark is mounted on the opposite side from the valve. That seems excessive but I'm not racing so I guess its ok, but I would feel better if they would have put half of them on each side of the rim.

It was very windy in my area yesterday with near steady 25mph winds and frequent higher speed gusts. Having ridden in those conditions in fully faired sports bikes, I was anticipating getting blown about.

To my surprise, the CB1100 was steady as a rock. My torso and helment got buffeted pretty good, but the CB held its line. It wasn't until my wife and I took a trip in the car that we got blown about pretty good.

Has anyone had the same experience on their CB1100? Has anyone owned a bike that was crosswind "sensitive"?

Meeting a buddy from Rideohio.org with an NC 700 in the morning for breakfast and a ride out to a state park where another R.O. buddy is camping. I'm dressing warmer tomorrow. What's with this cold weather? It's almost June for Pete's sake

Got my new windscreen for the CB11 and I'm thrilled. A little annoyed with the hose clamps though...hubby is trying to figure out a better way of attaching it to the bike.

Has anyone taken the gas tank off? I'd like to get under there to splice into a hot wire for a volt meter. And gotta confess----just to do it one time. Haven't we all lifted the tank on our bikes just to look at the top of the engine, etc.?

Today brought beautiful weather and clean roads up the nearest canyon so I had to take a ride on my, less than 1 week old, CB1100.

I had to report how surprised I was/am at the nimble, lithe handling of the little red CB.
The road I was on is rather tight with lots of sharp turns but aside from one corner they are just short of switchbacks.
It opens up in a few spots enough to get some speed just to slow you back down into the tight twisties again.
I just watched a Japanese Gymkhana video so that was playing out in my head as I dipped hard into each corner and twisted the right grip to fire out of the exits.
I managed to completely erase any sign of a chicken strip on the new tires.

I didn't realize how much fun I was having and just how good the bike felt until I exited the canyon and slowed down - once I relaxed I just kept repeating "WOW" inside my helmet.

The bike is light, quick, fun, and surprisingly nimble with excellent feel under hard cornering (not track speed but street speed)

I'm very impressed and very happy with my new bike. It's so much better than I thought It would be.
What a kick.

This afternoon I was all dressed to take my CB1100 for another ride and when I tried to push the bike out of the garage I noticed a flat rear tire!I must have picked up a nail on my last ride a few days ago and I only have 347 miles on it.I can repair it myself as I always carry a mushroom style Stop and Go repair kit on my rides but feel safer with anew tire.This might be a change to get a better tire although the BS seems to work ok.I have Avon rears on my other bikes,Road Rider on my CBX,s and Cobra on my CB1000,s.I have not looked yet for a replacement,probably not too many choices and I might have to go up slightly in width to find a good or better tire.Has any one looked for a different tire yet?
