  Bazzaz Fuel Control ***Update 6/7/13***
Posted by: thumper_imp - 05-11-2013, 09:01 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (24)

Well, I guess I can let the cat out of the bag now. A couple of weekends ago, while on a mountain lunch ride, a technician from Bazzaz (out for a ride on his ZX-6) saw my CB1100 and asked if they could borrow my bike as a test mule, to create a new fuel controller for the model. He quoted me a price I couldn't refuse.

The same guy picked-up my bike Thursday, and I told him that one thing I'm hoping is to enrich the low-, and mid-range fueling, to stop the bronzing that's occurring to my headers and pipe. Of course, any boost in power won't be a bad thing either.

They have a picture of their new high-tech dyno on the website, and he assured me they'll optimize the fueling as good as it can get. He told me I'll get a print-out of the dyno results to show before and after numbers. He anticipates a 4-8% power improvement.

I should have my bike back in a couple of weeks, and no telling how long afterward the controller will be available for purchase.

I'll keep you guys informed.

  removing tank stickers

Has anyone removed the stickers on the gas tank? Any ideas about a good way to do it without damaging the paint?

  Corrosion on pipes
Posted by: PowderToastMan_imp - 05-10-2013, 05:28 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (30)

Anyone else noticing some corrosion on the header pipes?

I don't know if it's corrosion or if it's the finish wearing away or just changing color, but I had some spotty discoloration in a few places, just noticed this morning after not having a chance to ride for a few days that it's a bit bigger than it was.

I should snap a picture...

I assume that it's not a real problem, but it's kind of a shame to have these nice smooth pipes already looking like this.

  Anyone test their ABS yet?

Not in an emergency Crossed fingers) just in practice. Wonder what it feels like. I know in my Civic, it's a horrible feeling. Wonder what it feels like on a bike?

Has anyone tried these bags? I'm wondering I'd it's got the clearance from the exhaust pipe.

3M Clear bra to protect tank
Posted by: Scoobynut_imp - 05-07-2013, 04:28 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (19)

So, the first thing I did to my bike was apply 3M clear bra material to the rear of the tank. I took lots of pictures of the process in case anyone else is interested. I just thought I would gauge interest before I uploaded all the pics and wrote a how-to. All I'll say is it's just a nice feeling to never again have to worry about scratching the rear of that pretty tank!

I would also be willing to mail the template I cut to whoever is interested in using it. I don't really want to become a mail department, so I would probably leave it up to the members to mail it around to other members, or, if someone else wanted to, they could make copies and mail them to other members. I will however, mail it to the first person who requests it. Having the template would make the clear bra install process much easier for folks who've never custom cut a template before. As an added bonus, I cut the template in such a way that it also prevents the seat from scuffing the paint where it contacts the tank.

Anyways, I recall promising to write a clear bra how-to some time ago on the ADV CB1100 thread, so here I am, ready to show the way for anyone who's interested. Smile

  My 2 up ride
Posted by: redReno_imp - 05-06-2013, 01:19 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (4)

Yesterday we went up Palmoar mt, the CB11 handled great!

After we rode down, one of us was far behind and ended up taking a wrong turn. While we waited, my friend noticed his R1 looked kinda funny, kicked his rear tire and his boot went INTO it Confused His tire was going FLAT! Long story short, he thought he had road side assistance and I had to give him a ride to his place (45 miles away) to pick up his truck. This is the same friend who gives me crap about not getting a sport bike, he really didn't want to ride with me haha so I am mainly posting this picture hoping he finds it if he ever googles his last name.

[url=http://s1329.photobucket.com/user/red_VIII/media/CAM00205_zps658a4be8.jpg.html][Image: dc5f87ccbcd8ddb19219c7ce541365f1.jpg]

He ended up somewhat enjoying the ride, he never grabbed on to me and he said it was comfortable. I forgot my spanner wrench so I didn't adjust the rear supsension, they were on 2nd out of the...5 settings. But the CB11 did just fine even with the 315lbs load + our gear, did waaaay better than my Nighthawk did with my wife and me in fact. Now I really look forward to giving my old lady a ride.
I wonder what mileage I got out of this ride. Going up Palomar I was going up about 5 miles in 2nd gear, and half the tank was riding 2 up averaging 45 mph. I won't fill up until the weather gets better and I ride again.
