How does your CB1100 do it a stiff crosswind? - CB4ME_imp - 05-26-2013

It was very windy in my area yesterday with near steady 25mph winds and frequent higher speed gusts. Having ridden in those conditions in fully faired sports bikes, I was anticipating getting blown about.

To my surprise, the CB1100 was steady as a rock. My torso and helment got buffeted pretty good, but the CB held its line. It wasn't until my wife and I took a trip in the car that we got blown about pretty good.

Has anyone had the same experience on their CB1100? Has anyone owned a bike that was crosswind "sensitive"?

I have a big windshield on mine , NC Plexi II , and mine did very well in a cross wind.

After the way my Honda Elite 110 scooter got blown around, I was bracing for the worst, but my CB is very steady in the wind. And I'm glad!

Finally doing sustained highway speeds, having no wind issues. I don't plan on a screen, I wear one on my face. But yes, I like the way it resists being blown about, this is a fairly massive little bike.

What is a great price on a NC8830 and one can buy it?

I work in San Francisco and commute from San Jose. My commute is about 110 miles round trip and is has been WINDY up the peninsula the last week or two. It has been very stable and I really haven't been blown around all that much...even at 80. Big Grin Now the buffeting I'm taking is a whole nother story. I REALLY need a windshield.

I sometimes find myself on I-205 crossing over the Columbia River between Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. It is not uncommon for some pretty stiff winds to come rushing down the Columbia River Gorge to the east. Those winds are always running parallel to the big river and perpendicular to the bridge, setting up some rather trying situations for motorists. My Hawk GT gets blown around pretty good on that bridge at times, but my CB1100 has been surprisingly stable under those same conditions. In other words, I can feel myself and my helmet being tossed about a fair bit from the side winds, but the bike itself is tracking flawlessly. Kind of a strange sensation.

I have family up in Portland. Next time I'm up that way I'll have to look you up!
