CB Owners, Looking to purchase soon and wanted to get some impressions on how important the 6-speed and throttle response improvements on the '14 is compared with the '13 model, from an performance perspective.
I think both years are very attractive and I don't do a lot of long distance rides.
There are several used '13 I can get for 2-3K less than a '14 and, if the performance difference is negligible, I'd probably stick with a '13. Having said that, I don't mind spending extra for performance if it's noticeable.
I searched the forum and couldn't find much from a true comparison stand point (someone who has saddle time on both machines).
Appreciate any advice you are willing to offer. Thanks

I work at a welding supply place and picked up some new "Riding Gloves" well they were designed for welding but the look and design appealed to me for riding. Plus the Red on them match my bike. They are made by Lincoln Electric.

I apologize for bringing up a well-worn topic, but I plan on taking extra-good care of my new-to-me '13 CB1100. Part of this means maintaining my pristine red fuel tank.
I was told by a couple of young mechanics at my neighborhood Honda store that the fuel tank decals (warning unleaded fuel only, blah, blah, blah...) probably have an indentation beneath them that will show if I peel the decals off. Honestly, I don't believe that for a moment, but that's what they said.
I'm more concerned that there might be a color difference underneath the decals. They have been there for two years.
Would someone who has removed the decals on their CB care to comment if they found indentations? Also, might there a color difference if I remove the decals? The bike hasn't left the garage for a year.
Thanks!
Paul

When the '13 came out, no one knew if it would continue from year to year, so he liked it and ordered five, one with ABS. But then the '14 came along which he sold two black STD's of. He also has a leftover '14 STD and a leftover '14 DLX for a total of seven CB's in stock. We were chatting today and he said, well, I am a Honda guy. His brother Dave raced at Daytona and many other tracks and his Dad raced too; [url=http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/halloffame/detail.aspx?RacerID=427]Dick Bettencourt - It's a great dealership and was the first and largest Honda/Suzuki dealer in New England. Cool old dirt bikes hang by chain from the ceiling in one garage including the old CR250 which was awesome, simple and stunning. New England is a Harley area for sure. But more of the old inline four guys around here need to come out of the woodwork and buy one of these 1100's. It's practically a CB1100 museum. I can sit on one and pretend there is not three feet of snow outside.

Anyone have any experience with the OVER braced swingarms? I just sent a note to MrT asking about the Type 8 version. I'm trying to figure out why there are two; is there a significant difference in stiffness between the versions? Looks like the Type 8 is a bit more old-school, while the Type 10 sports a few more billet pieces....any insights would be appreciated.
