Good news for those shopping for a new Honda.

There's a substantial gap between the value of the US dollar and the Japanese yen. The official value of the yen was discounted about 25 percent versus the US dollar this past August. In the meantime, the US dollar has grown even stronger.

6:56 EDT - While the stronger dollar hit Harley-Davidson's (HOG) 4Q result and are likely to continue doing so for a good chunk of this year, the currency shift is helping fuel some price competition, says Wunderlich. Its survey of more than 55 US motorcycle dealers show "relatively lukewarm retail sales trends year-to-date in heavyweight motorcycles." Between that and some currency tailwinds, "key competitors...have begun aggressive promotions to help...clear dealer inventories." The investment bank says Honda ( ok - fmr.qnr.components.snapshot.Mini HMC end - fmr.qnr.components.snapshot.Mini ) "has been especially aggressive" in recent quarters on the new- product front and during the winter "became more aggressive with promotions as well." Wunderlich adds Yamaha Motor ( ok - fmr.qnr.components.snapshot.Mini YAMHF end - fmr.qnr.components.snapshot.Mini ) is also "taking advantage of the weaker yen" with its pricing. Well,it's the "other side of the road". I don'y know about it being "correct"!....

I received the new Marlin Flyscreen today and quickly went to work installing it. It uses all new brackets, so nothing interchanges with the Original Flyscreen. One minor issue, and I spaced on taking a picture, is that the upright bracket pretty much fits against the back of the instruments cups. I'll take the screen back off and send Steve a picture. I just cut some small strips of rubber with adhesive backing and stuck in between.

Here, you can see the Original over top of the Marlin. Where the Original is very low profile, the Marlin is similarly svelte thanks to it's more swept profile.

That swept profile is what I think makes my helmet wind noise greatly reduced. I feel the wind hitting my shoulder with everything above in clean, turbulent free air. The Original had air hitting most of my chest, but the blockage it did provide reduced the pressure on my abdomen. The Marlin goes a step better with much less wind pressure. Before 70 mph was the fastest comfy speed. Now, around 80.

Vertical distance from the ignition switch to the top of the screen is 9 inches. The screen measures 14-3/4" wide when measured around the curve. Height is 12-3/8" from the center of the headlight cutout to the top, measured along the curve.

I love the curved profile, reminds me of a small fairing. Looks like a keeper.

Not mine, although I wouldn't mind having it. My nephew Mike sold his somewhat problematic KTM 690 Duke and scooped up a great deal on a brand new left over Suzuki SFV 650 Gladius. Had to go to Indiana to pick it up. His brother rides the Honda NC 700X my wife and I borrowed when we went to Nevada last fall, and rode Ebbetts and Monitor passes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. These 2 bikes are on my radar for when the ST 1300 gets too heavy for me and I decide to go to a lighter bike. Both seem like very nice bikes. Can't wait to test ride this one.

Gentlemen,

A few days ago I finally got around to putting on my 19 tooth front sprocket. When I got the inner case cover off to reveal the stock 18 tooth sprocket I saw that it looked completely different than the 19 tooth replacement. The stock front sprocket is very heavy, thick, and has a lot of rubber armoring on both the inside and outside surfaces. I assume that rubber armoring is to dampen vibration but I'm not sure. Is this correct? I can't imagine why Honda would make this part rubber armored without a reason. Perhaps the edges of the chain touch down on the rubber edge and it calms down vibration there.

The new 19 tooth sprocket fits and works perfectly BUT, the bike does seem to vibrate a bit more despite the lower RPM's. Is this possible or is it all in my head? Has anybody else that has made this switch experienced this? All the best.

I was in Spokane WA. today and had Nels dyno my bike and set up the pcv fueling. Nels said it was way way to rich 18 to 20%.
I was hoping for 100hp but got 97.21hp and 71 ft-lbs of torque.
The 112mph limiter got in the way! I am going to send the ecu to Guhl next to see if I can over 100hp and maybe re-dyno when Nels is back in Spokane.

Rear Turn Signals is very straight forward and easy, but you do have to remove the battery tray.


Front Turn Signals, it's a little bit tricky and you will need a drill. The hole of the OEM Mount is too small .... good thing you will still be able to use the original turn signals ...


But they look soon much better then the large OEM Turn signals ...
I also enjoy the "challenge" to follow the japanese instructions but with just a little bit of common sense it's a walk in the park.

As I was warming up my bike for a ride the other day, it occurred to me that that is something I don't think we have ever discussed on here.

How long do you let your bike warm up before putting in gear and taking off? I guess technically with fuel injection it's possible to fire it up and take right off. Still I let mine warm up a minute or two while I put on my helmet and gloves.

So, how long do you let your bike warm up?

I am thinking of selling by 2013 bike with 10K miles on it and all original tires. No accident, looks new

What I can expect to have a quick sale? I live in San Diego

I just got a pleasant surprise this morning. The USPS just delivered a big box straight from Japan which I was not expecting this quickly.



I ordered all of this earlier this week from japan.webike.net and it took only 5 days. Never having ordered anything from Japan I guess I expected it to take a little longer than that.

Everything arrived in great shape and I can't wait to get it all installed. Webike had a great price on this setup, all Honda OEM parts. Highly recommended!
