  Another one bites the dust.
Posted by: CBen1100_imp - 05-26-2015, 02:12 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (31)

Just riding back from dinner. Went to Applebee's and was making a right hand turn into the street my subdivision is on and the bike went out from under me and high sided. Wasn't going fast, maybe 15-20mph max. Took me by complete surprise. It was dark and upon inspection I discovered a patch of loose gravel in the road.
The damage could have been worse I suppose. Both levers need to be replaced along with the handle bars and Honda engine guards. The mirrors are scratched along with a dent in the tank from the handle bars. The left driver peg broke off and the transmission cover got scratched above the engine guard. I faired fine, I had all my gear on; (Shoei RF 1100, Sedici Leather Jacket, Alpinestars Full leather gloves, Dainese Cotton riding pants and steel toe boots) my pinky finger hurts a little but mostly just my pride and soon to be check book.   That time when you did something.. then immediately regretted it!!
Posted by: CBill00_imp - 05-26-2015, 06:47 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (18)

So I went in to work yesterday for a couple hours just to get a few things done while nobody was there thinking our network would be faster (I was wrong btw lol).

So upon leaving my work parking lot I ventured through a part of the maze that I never did before, then I came to what I thought was the end of the parking lot with no exit (which turned out to be wrong again!). Rather than drive back around I saw a little 2" curb with a 5' grass area and figured "eh what the hell, I'll just drive over top of that". Popped up on the curb, drove through the little grass part, went to drop down off the curb on the other side... before it was too late I realized it was more like a 5" curb on the other side. Worst part is if I had drove around the building there was an exit right THERE!!!! Sad

It's driving me so nuts that I did that instead of just turning around... or venturing a little further around the building! Having owned as many dual sports as I have I guess I've picked up some horrible habits.

I suppose it could be worse though. No exhaust leak and the only damage was to the header... blah!

Has anyone purchased this yet? It looks like a pretty good deal for the rack plus a 50L top box.

  Oil Pressure/Temperature guage????
Posted by: bikerdave_imp - 05-26-2015, 04:08 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (47)

Ok, Guys. I am sorry to bring this up. I know(I do hope my mind has not gone that for that fast - too many shots to the head) that I saw
a mod for an Oil pressure guage that went into the oil filler access to the crankcase and now I can not find it. WHAT???? I do believe that the purveyor was from Europe. Any help finding it would be appreciated. Yes. I did try the search engine but search engines and I do not do well together. Thanks. Dave

  Springfield mile race
Posted by: CA200_imp - 05-26-2015, 12:13 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (6)

So we decided to go down to Springfield Il. for the Springfield mile flat track race. We used to go 20 years ago so it was interesting to
see what has changed and what has not.
A lot of things have not changed at all. The PA system is not very good and it mostly a Harley crowd. But it did not cost to much.
Even thought it is a HD event the Kawasaki's come in the top in most of the heats and races. There is also a good mix of KTMs , Ducs ,
and some Suzuki's and even a Triumph. It just go to show you how good mr. Mees is. Tory Bayliss was there for the first time. He looked good but did not do to well. There was also a Yamaha FZ-7 for it's
first run ,I did not see how it did.
Even though I have not gone in many years it was still really something to see.
These guys are going well over 100 mph handle bar to handle and the sound just rings in your head.
I thought my Sony camera did well since I was several 100 feet from the podium.

  Drift Stealth 2
Posted by: metallyguitarded_imp - 05-25-2015, 10:02 AM - Forum: CB1100 Photos & Videos - Replies (8)

After much research, I finally decided upon an action cam - the Drift Stealth 2. I placed an order today and hope to receive it within a week. I'm not interested in motovlogging so I didn't need an external mic port. There are work arounds but I doubt I'll explore them. And though I would have preferred the built in viewing screen that the Drift Ghost has, I prefer the much smaller profile of the Stealth 2. As with anything, I added up the compromises and this particular camera came out on top. I'm excited to shoot some video which I will share with all of you.

Stock photos of the camera:

Opinions Sought: US50 Cincinnati to D.C.
Posted by: emptysea - 05-25-2015, 01:33 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

Today is Memorial Day. I have an uncle who was killed in WWII and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The thought occurred to me as I was thinking of this man who I know so well, yet never met, that I should pay him a visit and perhaps lay a flower at his grave. His sister (my mother) would like that. She's 92 so I had better get on this, right?

The plan as it stands would be to allow two days each way for travel, stay in or around D.C. for a day or two, and head home. Would try to make this a ride for either May (V.E. Day) or September (Uncle Harry's birthday) of 2016. Since this notion just hit me this morning, it's all subject to change.

I did a quick check of the map and, considering my general aversion to interstates, it looks like US 50 could be a road that I could pick up, probably east of Cincinnati, and just follow it east. Looks easy, but is it a good road? Can I make decent time on it? Are there any points of interest along the way?

I'm going to to some internet research on this trip, but I thought I should check here first. After all, when it comes to information, most of the members of this forum are full of it. Big Grin

Thanks in advance for your comments.
