Drift Stealth 2
#1

After much research, I finally decided upon an action cam - the Drift Stealth 2. I placed an order today and hope to receive it within a week. I'm not interested in motovlogging so I didn't need an external mic port. There are work arounds but I doubt I'll explore them. And though I would have preferred the built in viewing screen that the Drift Ghost has, I prefer the much smaller profile of the Stealth 2. As with anything, I added up the compromises and this particular camera came out on top. I'm excited to shoot some video which I will share with all of you.

Stock photos of the camera:

Nice! How much $ and how much memory?

How do you start it, and can you start and stop it? How long will it record?

I'm tempted to get this Costco bundle (online and in store), it has live view wrist controller.

Nice, MG. Good choice.

I always ride with my camera. Just as important as the rest of my gear. I feel naked without it.

I bought mine from Amazon for $199 plus $7 shipping. It came with a 32GB memory card and a number of accessories to mount it, including a flat adhesive mount, a curved adhesive mount for the helmet, a handlebar mount and a few other items. The reviews I've read report three hours of recording time at 1080p/30fps.

There is a simple start/stop button on the unit and an optional remote control that can be worn on a wrist and that might come in handy depending on where the camera is mounted and how easy it is to get to. I'll be sure to post some videos and a review of my impressions. Stay tuned!

Ferret, do I detect a hint of interest in becoming a two-wheeled movie maker?

I received mine as a present from my friends. It was about 1,5 years ago an I still use it. It appeared to be perfect for fast riding, because of its shape and size. It doesn't distract me when mounted on the helmet - as other cameras. And I cannot complain about videos quality.

I got one for mounting on a bicycle helmet, I chose it for its light weight. The only misgiving I have about it is that the battery is sealed inside the unit and AFAIK, it's not meant to be consumer replaceable.. At some point, that battery will run out of its useful life. I'm wondering if I'll be able to replace the worn out battery with a new one.

I chose the Drift Ghost-S for motorcycle use, bigger and heavier but the battery is replaceable.. for longer rides I power it with the MC battery.

If I were using the Stealth on a motorcycle I'd definitely power it from the MC battery as often as is practical to save the internal battery..
