I only ever use Honda OEM oil filters , cheap enough if you buy multiples at one time.
I agree for the most part as long as it spins on and creates a seal I don't think much can go wrong. I know there are some differences in quality such as the filter materials used, what the bypass valve is made of, and bypass valve PSI but I couldn't tell you which is better or worse.

My only insight is that Honda isn't actually making the oil filters. The cheapest bidder makes the filters according to their specs. All kinds of other companies do this too (Subaru has changed oil filter manufacturing a few times) And as long as it is to their specs there shouldn't be a problem. I just tend to use brands that are more specialized in the product I need. Mobile 1, Fram, etc all they do is oil and filters.

I've used the Honda filters too but I just kinda got into a groove keeping the mobile 1 filters around. I dont think one is better or worse, that's just how I ended up doing it.

I know there are videos out there of guys cutting open every brand oil filter and comparing the filter materials and such but I've never watched them.

I use the Mobil 1 oils but when it comes to oil filters I think that Honda is very careful as they are responsible for problems when THEIR name is on the oil filters and are than responsible for any safety/ wear issues .

I am impressed how little discussion there has been so far in regards to oil in this thread.

Good job team!

I don't know if you guys have seen these, but K&N puts a little nut on the end of their oil filters that makes them very easy to wrench on and off.
I just ordered a case of them.
