With the major price diff I decided to go with the '13 and 5 speed. Missed the 6th gear and constantly found myself lookin for it. Just passed 2K miles and it feels like the engine is broken in and loosened up a small bit, no longer looking for sixth gear and gas mileage got better. All good.
Right choice for me, I bought the bike to ride and the $1,500 I saved pays for all the farkles I want plus quite a few tanks of gas.
A countershaft sprocket only costs $30 if you decide you really must regear it. Torque nice for country road cruising and the hill country, rode a few hours on the highway recently, no problems cruising along at 75.
Lack of test ride deal killer for me, left several dealerships with money still in my pocket. Never buy on looks only.
