112MPH?!?
(It's like when you pick up a bottle of beer and it has 16.9 oz in it and you think to yourself. sixteen POINT NINE! why not 16, who made the decision to add the POINT NINE. Do they really think I'll buy it because it has POINT NINE more in it. Then you look below it and see 500ml...uh in the words of Emily Litella (Gilda Radner SNL for those to old or too young)... nevermind!

Stretch, My tires are V rated, according to Bridgestone that's 150MPH speed rating. As far as suspension, this bike far exceeds my 1982 Suzuki GS1100EZ which I've had up to 140mph, bias ply tubed tires ( speedo only goes to 85--- GPS mounted on bike)
Are we going to go the fast, not likely, but its nice to know you can out run a Honda Civic to the exit ramp if need beeeeee!!!!

Doesn't matter to me, but for those in favor of the speed limiter, here's a question: If the bike did not come with the speed limiter but there was an afermarket one for free, would you get it and put it on... And what speed would you set it for?

Hey guys...I may have missed something here but are we saying that this bikes top speed in 5th gear is 112mph? I apologize in advance if im being ignorant....But being the law abiding citizen that i am.....based on the reference article about limiting speeds because of people out running the cops in japan..... If the police have the capability of going 112.... I want to have the choice to go 130... or at least 113 ......cuz ya never know....Can someone please tell me how to use the smiley face feature here

when i had my magna, 2003, i would hit a 100 in a blink of the eye....did it many times on the ramp passing cars to get onto the interstate...the thing about it, i did not realize that i was going 100, it felt like 60....

Mike yes our bikes our electronically speed limited to 112 mph. Do yourself a favor, if the police are behind you with lights flashing, pull over. A speeding ticket beats a speeding ticket plus wreckless op, plus eluding, getting to sit in the back of the car with cuffs on and go to jail ticket...thats if you dont crash and burn trying to get away and get really f'd up. IMO
To use the smileys you either have to hit NEW REPLY and then use the smileys, or hit reply and then hit full edit and you can use the smileys.

Ron, you can still hit 100 in the blink of an eye on the CB 1100, just so you know.

While some have questioned the need to exceed 112 mph on the street, I don't think I've seen anyone argue for the inclusion of the limiter itself.

Its interesting that with all the posts on multiple threads about all the moral, safety, mechanical, and sensible reasons not to remove or bypass the speed limiter........ No one is interested in adding such an important feature if the bike didn't already have it.

I don't need one. I have no intention of going that fast. I am not inclined to mandate it for others, but don't think it's a bad idea to be on all street motorcycles. A mfg's agreement of 186 mph for motorcycles intended for the street is crazy in a country where 80 is the maximum legal limit. For race track intended motorcycles, with no lights, turn signals, mirrors, and a special " intended for racing only" title it could have 500 horsepower and go 500 miles per hour for all I care. Race tracks are where limits should be tested, not on public roads.
I am not asking for it, but personally I'd have no problem with a 100 horsepower limit and 125 mph limiter on motorcycles intended for street use.
