Recently installed a staintune slip-on.
(Absolutely love it, install was very easy, I highly recommend.)
Now I'm getting ready to install a power commander 5, but I notice that the only "maps" available for the unit are for the stock muffler or a yoshimura rs-3.
What setting did you use, or recommend??

Rainy day here in North East Ohio so I thought I would upload some pictures of my bikes and give a quick review of the new VStrom 1000.
I have been looking for an adventure style bike for a few months and actually had a deposit down on a Tiger 800 before stumbling across this left over 2014 DL1000 at a huge discount.
I have no illusions of taking this bike off road but have been on a few dirt roads so far and mildly over groan fields. The Vstrom has felt very solid but with the current tires on it even wet grass results in the back tire breaking lose too easily.
I think where this bike really shines is the spread out seating position and easy low end power. I grew up on dual sports and have always enjoyed the upright riding position and visibility of the road and ability to see over most cars due to the ground clearance. This bike is not nearly as tall as the larger Adventure bikes but it definitely feels taller and longer than the CB1100. The reach to the handlebars is similar to the CB1100 but the leg room is obviously greater.
It is slightly lighter than the CB and handlebars slightly wider so initiating turns feels a little easier but you feel like you are falling into the turn more as well. I am not a fast rider but think I feel a little more confident on the CB when making relatively quick transitions on the road.
When it comes to rough roads or expansion joints the Suzuki is great. With approx 6 inches of suspension travel you really do not get any sharp jolts. I can see why these make great long distance bikes.
If anyone is looking for a great commuter bike with plenty of power the Suzuki should be in the running, especially if price is important. Like the CB there are still some 2014s out there.

Yesterday was a great ride day for me and my wife. I took a day off, for visiting some nice places before holiday season, when most of other people are still busy. So despite weather conditions were excellent, we met very few other visitors, any place we went to.

First stop in a vineyard, when approaching Rhone valley


Then we arrived at Montelimar fighter aircrafts museum (http://www.meacmtl.com).


Of course this is a rather little museum, not like Musée de l'air et de l'espace near Paris (http://www.museeairespace.fr) but I enjoyed what can be seen here in Montelimar.


After leaving Montelimar, we visited two old villages, each built around a castle...First one Chateauneuf-De-Mazenc



Then Le Poet-Laval, near by Dieulefit town


Very nices places.
The day has been a little bit long, 365 km, left home 9 in the morning, and return at 9 in the evening, but...Very good day with the CB!

Honda's are still suffering from engine and software. Unable to get power down out of the corners. MM will be lucky to get a podium.

Given the silly season results, it will be interesting to see how the major players do.

Hey guys, at the Superbike school, Arva turned me on to the 'earsleepride' app for iPhone users. I think there's also an Android app... It looks pretty cool. I haven't used it yet, but he tells me that it can record your rides and save them for later. It tells you all sorts of things about your ride, miles ridden, altitude changes, lean angles, etc. You can even log your trips and share them with other riders that you choose. You guys going on the Bland rally ought to check this out. It could be a great way to document exactly what routes you ride, etc.

Last weekend took off for a trip to Orlando to visit with my son. I take all the back roads north of Tampa to get there. The bike ran great. On the way back home I was heading through Clermont. I noticed the bike was acting up with low rpm of about 500. I just chalked it up to a bit of heavy traffic. Decided to pull over for a fill up & after I cranked back up, it shot to 2000 then after taking off, it went back to 1500. I'm sure this sounds familiar as I've seen a few threads on this. When I got home, got on the forum for info & did all my resets. But none of them helped. It was still on 1500 rpm.
Drove it for a day, even re-filled with fresh gas to no avail. Went ahead & scheduled appt. for Honda dealer. Took it in this morning. They did a total check, vacuum leaks, etc... Guess what my problem was? Zip ties on my throttle cable. I couldn't believe it because ties had been there for months. BUT...I adjusted the handle bars a couple days before heading over to Orlando & evidently tightened those ties a bit. Enough that when I hit a few bumps on my way back it tightened those cables too much causing the high idle. Once they cut off those zip ties, it was back to normal. Weird thing about it is, problem didn't occur for about 100 miles.
So check your zip ties guys when adjusting your bars.

I'm adding risers to my handle bars. Does anyone know the torque specs ?

I don't think this one has been covered here yet. They're touting it as a "Thruxton R" rival. Great looking bike, IMO.

Couple of weeks ago I did the first oil change on my 2014 at 500 miles.
Followed Ferrets directions and all went well. Of course being in Florida my Honda dealer only had the 40W oil and not the 30W. I asked and they said that is all the use down here as it is so hot. No problem... Simple job.
Tonight I warm it up a start to go for a little ride and darn if it doesn't have a funky lower end rattle... Oul level is fine.... Doing a search I find the thread about this issue... Do I really need to drop the oil and get a 30W?? Seriously crazy.
