3 days riding in south of French "Massif Central" : enjoying the last summer days under sunshine. Our CB1100 reached 20000 km, without any trouble, as usual!


Mont Gerbier de Jonc is a famous rock, as river Loire (one of the longest french rivers) begins there. 500 ft height, we took about half an hour climbing it.



Then we visited Aubrac, large flat highlands, nearly desertic area, devoted to breeding of cattle. We also saw a wolf crossing the road at night (not a dog... a real wild wolf)... These nasty animals are expanding in France since a few years now.

Question, is there a headlight replacement bulb available (led or otherwise) that will produce the bright white beam instead of the orangish light of the stock headlight. Thanks.[/size]

I'm noticing that people have gone horsepower crazy lately. It seems 100 HP is regarded as barely adequate and approaching 200 HP seems desirable. I wonder though are such bikes really fun to ride? How can you use so much power on the street?

I think what is missing in the "fun to ride" picture for me may be caused by too much horsepower. It just isn't necessary to wind an engine up when you have too much horsepower. Or is that all wrong?

Time to bleed the brakes and flush the old fluid on both the V-strom and the CB. In the past I've used a vacuum pump system that has worked pretty well but is a pain to set up and still allowed air to backup into the system sometimes. I saw an ad for Motion Pro's bleeder tool and got one off Amazon. This tool worked well and is easy to use. Essentially just a one-way valve in an aluminum body. It came with two short, clear tubes; should have had at least one longer tube to go from the outlet side of the valve to the fluid catch bottle. Using the long tube from my vacuum kit, I attached that to the outlet side of the tool, the other end to the catch bottle. The catch bottle was modified by epoxying a small magnet to the bottle's base. This made the bottle stable being attached to my bike lift. Attach the inlet side tube to the bleeder valve, apply pressure to the brake lever and open the bleeder valve and push enough fluid through to clear the Motion Pro valve and exit into the output tube. From there you can pump fluid through the Motion Pro valve without the worry of air backing into the system. Be careful not to allow the level in the reservoir get too low as to allow air in. Continue to flush until you see nice, clear fluid exiting the bleeder valve. Close the valve and job done.

Does anybody use their CB1100 for long distance touring? If so what modifications did you do to make it more comfortable? Pictures and descriptions of what you did and why would be very much appreciated.

I see black 2014 CB1100's available at local Honda dealers and on Ebay, but no red Deluxe models. I personally don't like the all black engine and I do like the 4 into 2 pipes better. Anybody have any idea why there are only black bikes available? I hesitate buying a new black bike and spending a bunch to make it look more like the red bike. I have tried looking for a used Deluxe and haven't had any luck locally.

Hi can anyone help me. Looking to buy oil cooler lines for my 1100 SF 02. Not many about and when I do find some they are a fortune, thanks.
