Last Saturday was my first out of the area romp on the CB1100. From Vallejo in the North East San Francisco Bay area up Highway 29, horrid traffic, to Napa. Once on the Silverado Trail on the East side if the Napa Valley traffic was light but bit slow for my taste. Not too bad as the scenery is always spectacular. From Calistoga in the northern end of the Napa Valley, over the hill into Knights Valley was, as always, a beautiful set of twists. Foot pegs didn't touch though the toes of my boots did. Through Knights Valley, then through the next set of twists into the always beautiful Alexander Valley. Smells of fermenting wine was incredible. At Cloverdale, time for some freeway riding to Ukiah. Then, Back home. All in all, a sweet 200 plus mile day, and somehow 12 bottles of wine found their way into my top case. Wonder how that happened?

For those living in NC how much taxes you paid in top of the retail.
I mean....Hypothetically
Bike was $10000 Taxes were 6% %5 4%....
Whats the NC % of taxes at purchase time?

Another thing what other fees you had to pay?
Dealers fee and Set up fees?

I'm trying to buy cash on hand but think i'm been taken advantage off.

I have a 2013 std, you know-the good looking red one.
Only honest gripe is fuel tank capacity and riding range between fuel ups.

Any solutions?

I know this topic can be dangerous to discuss, but I was wondering how many use conventional oil VS synthetic. I was thinking of using synthetic because of the engine being air cooled it might help with any possible over heating issues.

I have always used Honda oil in my Honda's but I have never used synthetic. I know it is expensive but maybe worth it?

I had just finished riding from Durango to Ouray on my Tenere and I heard a familiar sound. When I looked back the CB went by but he didn't see me trying to flag him down. Looked like a 13' with custom exhaust. It would have been great to talk to a fellow CB owner!

I received an email today from the shop where I bought my CB. The email states that two years ago today, I bought my "sportbike." Haha. For the record, I did not vote that the CB was a sportbike in our forum poll. The email also stated that if "I was ready to upgrade" they were hoping to regain my business.

Unfortunately for them, trading in my CB is not even on the radar and it's hard to imagine what I'd be buying that I'd consider an "upgrade." That, and a little funny business in the sales office when it came time for buying an extended warranty has convinced me that I won't be going back to that shop any time soon.

Two years ago ... time flies when you love your motorcycle.

I put the stock mirrors back on my CB yesterday for the Asheville DGR. I had forgotten how well they work. The field of vision is good, and they are rock solid. The Fugu mirrors that I had on previously look great, but they vibrate above 3000 rpm and the left one wouldn't stay in place for anything. I think I'll keep the stock mirrors on for a while.
The ride was great. We had around 120 bikes on the road. I'll put up some photos at some point. There were some really nice bikes and some great people. It was my first group ride in probably 20 years, and I had a blast.

As a kid I remember seeing these extremely tall Italian enduro bikes around called SWM. I liked them at the time, but the company then went broke like so many other small manufacturers.

SWM is back, helped by some Chinese financing, and I think they come out with some really retro bikes:
