Just wondering if anyone could send me the pages from the shop manual concerning diagnosing the engine oil temperature sensor.

My bike is stuck in cold start mode and runs rich at 1800 RPM all the time, even after hours of riding. Disconnecting the EOT instantly returns it to a normal 1100RPM hot idle, but I was just hoping to get all the voltage/resistance readings for testing just to do my due diligence before I condemn the EOT sensor...

Has anyone tried to remove the black finish on the wheels, lower forks or engine? If so how hard is it to do. OR buy new Deluxe wheels, lower forks and side covers. I like the silver look better.

I've been visiting this forum anonymously now for over a year and I finally found a used 2013 I will be picking up tomorrow. The only problem is it is 200 miles away from me and I need to trailer it back home and I have never trailered a bike. I'll be using a U-Haul motorcycle trailer and I bought 2 pair of Moose Racing standard tie-downs with soft-ties 1" wide and 7' long at the local Honda dealer. These straps are the non-ratcheting type but instead have the spiked roller wheel that digs into the strap. I was hoping for any pointers on tying the bike down.

Would you veterans-of-towing use these type of straps? I have ratcheting straps already and will be bringing those too. Another question I have is fork compression. How much travel does the front fork have and how far in inches do you think it should be compressed to secure it on the trailer? The parts guy showing me said he would compress the forks a few inches. He also asked what I bike I was tying down before he chose those straps, so I just assumed they would do the job. I looked at a 2014 on the dealer showroom floor where I bought the straps and I think I will use the front ties on the triple tree and the rear ties to the frame just beneath the rear of seat (I took the seat off at the dealers for viewing).

Any advice would be appreciated. I do have a smart phone and will be looking for replies on the way to get the bike although I know it is short notice and a long shot for replies. I'll also post pics of the tie down and report if I was successful. "If I was successful" sounds really bad I know, but it is my first try at trailering a bike.

And since I've modded the stock saddle via Sunmate open cell "memory" foam, I don't want to spring for a new saddle. I've done this for fifteen years on all my bikes so I can do day long rides.

Oh, FWIW ( totally off topic) I put the stock countershaft sprocket back on. I got my snap back. One down, four up, gotta love it. Right on.

I know, there is no such thing as a perfect bike! But we all have ideas of what would be the perfect bike if someone would just build it.

For me at the ripe old age of 60 I want light weight and low maintenance. An Air cooled engine, no radiator to mess with and risk leaks, fuel injected for altitude riding in the mountains, shaft drive no chain adjusting and lubing, hydraulic valves no valve adjustment. It has to have at least two cylinders up to four cylinders. Comfortable ergonomics for long distance riding and a windshield for wind protection.

Anybody know of any new or used bikes that fit my description? Maybe a BMW 1200?

Got stopped for the first time on the bike today. 52 in a 45. By a motorcycle cop, too. Bummer. Oh well. I was guilty.

I've noticed that the CB doesn't attract too much of that sort of attention.

I did have a homeless guy come up at a light and ask the year. I said '13 and he gave me a thumbs up and said "Yeah, I knew it wasn't a real old one by that disk brake." Pretty observant.

Went for a short 40km ride on Sunday.When I pulled up there was a distinct oil burning smell. I found the left hand side of the engine covered in oil obviously coming from the cam cover gasket. I have ordered another at $60AU which i thought was pretty steep for a piece of rubber. Bike has just ticked over 40k kilometres. Might be time to check the valve clearances while I have the top off.
