there is so many option on seats I have a 13 cb1100 and took it for a 250 mile ride on sat and wanted to walk the last 25 miles my wife suggested the last 50 I rode my 63 superhawk 600 miles in three days amca road run and it was better I am 5'9' 215lb
see all the talk different seat how about for a guy my size .
got any ideas it the size of the rider I think make a different gary

It's been while since my last post. I hope all is well. My CB is at the shop under going some modifications. Can't wait to get her back. Should not be more than another week now!

Anyway, I bought some leather grip wrap for my handlebars and before I attempt anything I would like to know if anyone has done this sort of modification before? Can the leather wrap go over OEM grips? Any pointers to be aware of will be appreciated.

I've searched this forum and read several posts on oil, but I couldn't find an answer to this question: Does your CB1100 consume (burn) any oil? Mine does, although it is not noticeable (no smoke), and you can't smell it. I'm just past 12,000 miles. I run only the Honda brand 10W30 full synthetic motor oil, and I change it every 3,000 miles. I performed the first change at 500 miles. This motor was broken-in properly (I do not want to start another discussion about proper break-in procedures), it has never seen redline, and from what I read on this forum, I ride it pretty typically (meaning it rarely exceeds 5,000 RPM). Between the last two 3,000 mile oil change intervals my bike has consumed approximately one quart of oil (it actually consumed a little more than one quart the past 3,000 miles). There are NO oil leaks. I always allow the motor to warm-up for a minute before riding off, so in summary, I believe this motor was broken-in properly, has been properly maintained, and if anything, it has been babied. As a reference, my 1998 VFR800 has 100,000+ miles (this I have owned since new), and I have NEVER added a drop of oil between the same 3,000 mile oil change intervals. Also, the VRF typically runs about 50% higher RPM. So, are there any other CB1100's out there (mine is a 2014 dlx) that need to have oil periodically added to keep the level topped of?

Drove to Great Falls Montana Friday and came back Saturday. 1st time I've been on that stretch of I-15 between Butte and the Falls. My gawd that's a beautiful section of road...and I'm talking about the interstate. I need to get up there and explore next summer with the CB in nakit sport-tourer mode..especially around that area called Gates of the Mountains. If the highway scenery is that good lord only knows what's off the beaten path.

Gas pumps: We have a brand new Maverick on my side of town. The gas pumps there allow you to adjust the flow from full bore to a trickle and everywhere in between. Just up the road there's an older Chevron and that pump just has ON when you squeeze the trigger, really no in-between. Very frustrating to attempt to modulate the flow. Since I've started using the Maverick pumps I've noticed how many stations have what seems to be "out of spec" pump handles.

I recently put on a Michelin PR3 on the rear and been pretty happy with it. Truth be told performance wise I can't really tell a difference even though it went from 140 to 160 in width. The front is due now. Plan to order another for the front from RevZilla and see if that one makes it to my door in 14 hours from the time I hit send (like the last one did).

Heading down to southern Utah in a week or so with my daughter on her 2015 Iron 883 sportster and her boyfriend on his Kawi Vulcan (if it's back up and running). If it's not he'll ride the CB and I'll be on the Guzzi V7R. Trailering the bikes down and plan is to remote camp somewhere off the road with Tent and Cabelas Tent Cots. Fire every night etc. after we get back from riding. Day 1 is to travel down, unload, and ride to Lake Powell Hite overlook and then stopping at some slot canyons on the way back to camp.

Day 2 is Capitol Reef National Monument from Hanksville to Torrey. If Highway 12 is still open (possible snow) maybe go over it to Boulder and back to Hanksville. That would be a long, but epic day of riding. Day three down to Lake Powell, take ferry across if its back up and ready for service. Or, head south out of Hanksville, forgo the ferry and head to Blanding, then Mexican Hat and come back over the Moki Dugway Switchbacks.

Day Four return home. All this is dependent on weather of course.

If anyone has installed a BackOFF Brake Light Module or similar device, I’d very much appreciate if you would please share any installation details, including how and/or where you accessed the green/yellow brake light wire as the wiring underneath the seat is encased/enclosed in black conduit, your module mounting location, and any additional details you’d care to share.

While its not an injury sustained from riding or a crash, it is related to the bike.

Yesterday I was best man for a friends wedding, it was a long day
So after a night sobering out I collectd my bike, rode home, all is good, felt good myself.
Than tried to put the bike on its centre stand, as I always do when I enter the garage.

Than all of a suden Ièhad this severe pain at my lower back.
Left the bike on the side stand and I could not even stand on my two feet

Lumped my way to the living room still all geared up with back pack and all...trying to hold myself together.

I suppose I have an Lumbago, from my google research.
From reading, 50% recovers completely already after 1 week and 95% after 3 months.
I hope I'm in the first category cause it hurst like heck.

At first simply walking worked out fine, but now I can't even walk without pain, and if I walk I walk like a freaking monkey.
And laying down is also a battle against pain.

The bike is actually easy to put on its center stand.
But to protect the floor my dad put a piece of wood on the ground where the bike must rest on.
And that piece, how thin it may be, makes a difference in difficulty.
Without it, I bet I wouldn't get the injury.

That piece goes out the door.
Aiaiai, I hope it'll all work out fast...never saw this cuss coming.
