Electrical plug contact cleaning and maintenance
Posted by: curlyjoe - 01-20-2017, 11:55 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (6)

I'd like to do some preventative maintenance to prevent corrosion of metal electrical contacts in the 2P, 3P and 4P plug connectors for the various sensors including TPS, EOT, IACV, etc. I'm thinking, rightly or wrongly, that some of the low/high idle issues seen by some CB owners could be due to some corrosion on the leads in the plug connectors resulting in intermittent electrical connection problems to and from the ECU.

I'm thinking of unplugging the connector and using an electronics cleaner such as [url=https://www.amazon.com/CRC-5103-Quick-Electronic-Cleaner/dp/B000BXOGNI#Ask]this product from CRC to clean the contacts and then perhaps adding a bit of dielectric grease before reconnecting the plug.

Sound reasonable? If not, other suggestions for products and/or methods to use would be welcome.

  Eye Balls
Posted by: gmike_imp - 01-20-2017, 12:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (19)

I am 72. 6 years ago was the 1st time I went for an eye exam. The Dr. said my eyes were off enough to effect my depth perception. So I got my 1st pair of prescription glasses. The 1st time on the bike after that was like seeing in 3D again. Cornering was so much clearer it is hard to describe. It made an enormous difference riding.

I just went in for another exam. Believe it or not, my eyes got slightly better and a new prescription was in order. Haven't been able to test it riding yet (weather) but driving is very clear again.

The eye exam was covered by Medicare. I had to pay an extra $36 for the prescription. Then around $125-$150 to get it filled at Walmart-Costco. Well worth it for me.

This crept up on me.

Here's some interesting photos and drawings of the CB1100TR concept bike shown at one of the recent bike shows. Also, proving it is not so far-fetched, a photo of the Champion frame CB750 AMA flat tracker from the late 1970s!

Browsing on ebay and ran across a 2013 engine--reasonable to assume it was off a totaled out CB until I clicked on the video for the company selling the parts...

I could understand if it was totaled or 20+ years old but a newer bike? Makes me sick.

Hi forum members. I mentioned this incident on this forum back when it happened, but it didn't get any attention. This news article is about a woman who deliberately ran a motorcyclist down, killing him. I drive by the 300 foot long skid marks where she pushed his bike before he actually went down every day on my way home from work and it gives me a bad feeling each time. I am glad she was convicted, but I think she got off easy for taking a man's life...what do you think?

  Searching for parts
Posted by: Hondadawg1_imp - 01-18-2017, 07:49 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (21)

I recently purchased the Daytona Cafe seat and it came without the clips that attach it to the frame.. I have searched everywhere I can think of and they are not depicted in any of the schematics I've found. I can swap them from my old seat but I would really like to keep it where I can just swap the seats back and forth without changing the clips everytime. Does anybody know where I can find them ?
