Saw this posted on a Guzzi Site I frequent. Thought I'd mention it here. 'Then Came Bronson' star Michael Parks gave up the ghost today at 77. Watched every episode during my childhood. Sunset is just starting on the Wasatch Mountains and the alpen glow is coming on. Going out with a good single malt to see Michael off. There goes Bronson!

Guys, was hoping to get some thoughts on this engine noise.

I have read all the engine noise threads, most of which note that air cooled bikes make more noise in general, and I agree....however the very harmful to the engine. It is coming mostly from the bottom end. I have many 4-stroke Hondas and never heard anything like this. My dealer has checked the bike out several times and claims they can't find a source for the noise.

I took a right to leave a parking lot and there was an Audi Q7 on my side of the road, grabbed the front brake too hard, cold tires and pavement + too much grab = boom, and the front tire washed out..

I am ok.. I am also so glad I have engine guards.. or this might have been a lot uglier for the CB..

As it is I scratched the pipe, and bent the heck out the bars..

so.. What are my replacement options?

I installed a battery tender on my bike about 2 weeks ago. I haven't ridden the bike since I installed it. I went out just now to go for a ride and the battery is dead...at least that's what I'm thinking. The gauges cycle and the lights turn on when I turn the ignition, but it won't start. I just get that "click, click, click."
I'm charging the battery now, so hopefully that's the only problem.
My question is: is it expected for the battery to die if the bike sits for two weeks? This seems a little strange to me, but I thought you wise folks might have some input.
Do you keep your battery on a charger regularly?

2013 Honda CB1100

Yikes! Honda still has the ST1300 on their web site? http://powersports.honda.com/2012/st1300.aspx

The last year for U.S. production was 2012! So why is Honda still advertising a 5 year old bike on their web site?

I continue to have a love hate relationship with my 2009 ST1300.

The love; when I get out on the open road and burn up 500, 700, 1,000 miles in a single day.
For me, there is no finer touring bike made.

The hate; it's HEAVY, 730 lbs according to Honda's web site. It's a PITA to work on, especially removing the fairings with the 20 or so different fasteners that require a template to assure I get the right fastener back into the right hole.

From time to time I think about selling 'The Elephant', but she's worth a fraction of what I payed for her. Better to keep her around for the occasional road trip, which are few and far between.

Your thoughts on this perplexing (to me) motorcycle...

Put 85 miles on the new 2013 CB1100 today in excellent weather.
Hit the route I made up to get to my friend's house so I could use all back roads here in my new home state of NC. Wanted to just cruise but was varying speed and gears for the break in. Still a beautiful ride.
I've ridden plenty of inline fours on test rides when I used to build/prep bikes for a shop. Familiar with ZX14's (rode MANY of them as I worked there the first year they were released), R1's (rode my friend's on a couple of longer rides after putting it back together for him from 3 minor spills that required new body work and some engine cases), frequently rode my Dad's YZF600R he kept in my garage, and my inline 3 Street Triple 675.
The Triple is what I was most used to and had torque everywhere so I'm not going to compare it to the CB. I know the Yamaha YZF600R is much smaller but I used to have to wring it's neck to get any kind of sensation of power out of it and was expecting to find the powerband high in the rpm's on the CB as well but I knew I wouldn't have to wring it's neck. I was aware of the CB having more of a "linear" power delivery from reading reviews but would define that aspect in my own words as "pulls STRONG through all the gears". It had more torque than I expected.
The CB1100 is the most neutral and predictable bike I have ever ridden be it at parking lot speed, idling around (no rough fueling that I've heard of on this forum) as well as 60mph. It just felt rock solid and the seating/bar/foot peg positioning was very natural.
I was most surprised at how my butt ached after 45 miles. In my garage and during the first 40 miles the seat felt better than any other stock seat I've ridden so I had hope I wouldn't have to change it out for aftermarket like I've done on every bike I've owned. After taking a break at the halfway mark, the ache crept in soon after starting out again.
I don't like the look of the stock Corbin but I would go with the Chip Beck Spec version that looks great without the stitching in the middle.
I really like the K&H Mid Dbl seat here. It's around the same price but how are they in comfort?
The Arrow slip on hopefully ships by 5/16 according to the back order email I got from Motovation shortly after ordering it. Probably have to wait for it to get to them from Italy but if it's damaged at least I only have to ship it back to Texas.

Hi - new member here. I just picked up a 2014 CB1100 in trade with only 400 miles on the odometer. It's the all black version, does not appear to be an ABS model, but I'm not actually sure yet - and no, I haven't even ridden it, but it sure sounds nice idling in my garage!

Can someone point out the differences in the standard version versus the deluxe?

I know about the ABS... the rear wheel on mine has a smaller slotted disc on the same side as the rotor. What is that for? Is it part of the ABS system that I don't think I have? The front wheel does not have the slotted disc.

I'm not a fan of "all black" but a trade is a trade and I was happy to get this. Rode CB750's back in the 70's and this a uber nicer machine. It also fits me quite good.

Looking for some tips, tricks, things I should know, things to watch out for, etc., if anyone cares to offer this information.

I'd like to move the handlebars back a little (risers? where would I get those?), would like to see pictures of the lowered foot pegs to see if I'd like those, interested in some kind of small windshield / fairing but didn't care for those bullet fairings I've seen so far, maybe just a nice clear screen to deflect wind, need to know if I should switch anything to LED, what is a good rear rack to obtain, and what kind of saddle bags would go well on this bike.

I like the threads I saw here on removing some of the black paint to expose the aluminum - now THAT is a sharp looking setup. Maybe something I'd consider doing next winter.

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum and am excited for about to have my CB1100!

So here's my confusion, I was looking for CB1100 on craigslist and this ad got my attention:
$7500, 1618miles, 2014 model, black, with exhaust/engine guard/rack/etc etc...

at first I thought it is a little expensive than I thought. But I called the guy anyway, and he told me the bike has ABS. according to the pictures he provides, the bike is not the Deluxe version as it only has one pipe.

But I thought only Deluxe version comes with ABS for 2014 model? Is it possible for a 2014 CB1100 having ABS and not being a Deluxe?

Please help!
