Stock Exhaust - COCB1100_imp - 06-14-2017 Hi All, I am a newly minted CB1100 owner and wanted to get everyone's opinion on the stock exhaust system. I love my bike and appreciate all the great and subtle details that make it awesome but am finding the exhaust to be too quiet. It is almost to the point of me feeling its lack of "speaking up" makes it tougher for people to notice me in city traffic. I know this is easily remedied by getting an aftermarket exhaust, but I wanted to know if other members similarly felt the stock system is a bit quiet for their tastes and also, the best aftermarket system for a nice sound (not necessarily the loudest). Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and opinions. RE: Stock Exhaust - LongRanger_imp - 06-14-2017 I'm not one of them. Quiet is good. That said, lots of folks here seem to like the Staintune pipe. RE: Stock Exhaust - Peperapido_imp - 06-14-2017 I'm a big fan of the cb stock exhaust. I had an HD with V&H short shots... RE: Stock Exhaust - MM300_imp - 06-14-2017 Definitely get an aftermarket exhaust if that will make the bike better for you. As for me, I like mine stock. I also spent many years running drag pipes on various Harley's. Sounded great, loved it, put up with the ringing right ear. And, the CB is not as quiet as you think it is. A while back I was out riding with a buddy of mine and another guy that he knew. This dude was on a sport bike. They were both in front of me the whole way. When we stopped sport bike guy commented 'I could hear your bike back there' the whole time. From in front, with a full face helmet on. RE: Stock Exhaust - Cormanus - 06-14-2017 I'm a stock exhaust guy. I'm happy not to have to endure excessive noise and, when I can hear the stock pipe, I like it a lot. But, as LongRanger said, many like the Staintune and it's a bit louder than stock. RE: Stock Exhaust - Rocky_imp - 06-14-2017 It's your bike to do with as you wish, but I hate loud pipes and am quite happy with the factory exhaust. RE: Stock Exhaust - venturer434_imp - 06-14-2017 Happy with stock exhaust. Always have preferred OEM stock exhaust. RE: Stock Exhaust - Lord Popgun - 06-14-2017 +1 on the stock exhaust. I even have a spare, just in case ![]() However, like noted above, the Staintune is a very popular choice. It works very well... RE: Stock Exhaust - emptysea - 06-14-2017 I have an aftermarket exhaust (Yosh) which is loud enough for me, but based on reports from those with whom I ride, is not very loud. The Ferret and a few others can comment on the loudness. I have the exhaust because my stock pipe was damaged in a drop and insurance paid for it. I would not have replaced it otherwise because I would prefer to spend my money on gear or other accessories. I am unconvinced that a louder pipe makes you more noticeable to motorists. |
