Southern Indiana Curves

[Offroad]

I did the IN 66 and 62 of this route twice this week.

It's the best southern Indiana has to offer that I know of.

The Overlook restaurant is a perfect stop for this route. It has about an hour of curves on either side of it.

Came off my low carb diet and had the sampler...fried pickles, mushrooms, onion straws and cheese, bacon fries (only ate one ;-), the 3 sauces were the best part!

I dodged turkeys, deer (one baby couldn't have been over 18 inches tall), squirrels, turtles, raccoon, buzzards, gravel, sand....but the one that got my attention and left me loose for a split second (I never feel my tires slip unless it's my back tire under heavy engine braking or panic stops) was this one:

Looks harmless enough...I watch the road very carefully and didn't even see it.

This curve has an intersecting drive way to a farm....this must be oil, grease, kerosene....there was another spot on the driveway leading out onto the road. Doesn't look like much, but considering how little lubricant it takes to make things slick...got my attention...I was glad I wasn't maxing out my curves or the slide may not have stopped....keep your eyes peeled!

Nice.... i'm jealous. I was supposed to ride over and check out 62 and the Lookout a few weeks ago, but something came up. Can't for the life of me remember what, but I can see I missed a great experience.

Need to do that!

Hey I remember it was an ST event at some park over there, and there were torrential rains all weekend. The guy I was supposed to ride over with (and split a cabin with), decided last minute he was going to drive his car and take his wife along. He offered to pick me up in the car. I elected just to skip the event and ride here at home. I still had to pay for one night in the cabin lol.

Very good, Offroad. I have ridden 66, but I think we missed 62 when we were down in those parts. Some nice roads from there into and through Brown County. In Sulphur, we picked up 237 and 37, if I recall, and really enjoyed the ride (except that's where I almost ran out of gas).

So.. The Ferret and I talked about meeting for lunch at The Moonshine Store this summer. I think you should join us. It's only 110 miles from where I think you live. Ferret could probably pick up at least part of 66 on his way there or back. Let's plan this!

I remember that ride and restaurant from a few years back at a Suzuki GS rally. It was fun too watching the barges cruising the Ohio River. The ever-threatening Indiana rain started shortly after we left the restaurant but it was fun getting there.

Yes, that's the place. I'm thinking Saturday, August 5th and I'd ride down with Cheryl and my usual group of folks to have a burger for my birthday (8/7). Theoretically, this could be an overnight trip for my group with us staying someplace (Brown County, IN??) on the way back, but I haven't even discussed this with the powers that be.

Great ride report and pictures! Rode it twice!? I'm pretty new to Indiana and to the CB for that matter.. LOL
But am enjoying riding it the more I ride. I'm central IN. have been near where you rode in the car, but not yet on the bike. Nice ride report!
