Ok, talk of heated gloves on another thread has me interested. My hands are why I don't ride in the cold (less than 40). I have a pair of Frank Thomas insulated, waterproof gloves that are ok untill the hand sweats start. they also curl a bit naturally which I don't like and I feel "insulated" from the bikes controls too.
I have never owned any electric stuff but it may be the answer. How do they hook up? To the bike? To a batt pack? Is it cumbersome? Wires everywhere?
All opinions and info welcomed

[attachment=7006]I had to think long and hard about doing it, but I did it! I sold my 2010 CB1100 and bought a 2007 GSX1400 in as new condition.
The reason, well there's several -

a) the fuel tank capacity on the CB is small and felt like I was forever filling it up. I ride with my Mrs a lot and she gets around 300kms per tank on her SV650, so on long rides we were always looking for the next fill up point.
b) the lack of the 6th gear. The buzz through the bars at 110kp/h was at my internal harmonic filter limit, I just found it annoying and I was forever reaching for that non existent 6th. It also contributes to the point above!
c) that seat! Enough said.

I know it sounds like a whinge, but I actually loved the CB. The ergos, the smoothness and just the overall manners of the bike were impeccable and if I was only going to use the bike for around town I would have kept it for sure.
But the riding distances to get anywhere here in West Oz are huge, so I wanted something more well rounded - sports/touring/town.
And now I have it -

I had always lusted over one of these and when my mind was made up I started searching. Found an immaculate example with low kms and with only a few tasteful mods, so the deal was done.
It ticks all the boxes now - 6th gear, 22ltr fuel tank and a seat like an arm chair. Took it on its first long ride last week and I know this a keeper for sure.
So I hope you don't mind if I hang around this forum even though I am CB'less, as I find this one of the most informative forums out there with none of the garbage that is usually associated with online sites. And let's face it who doesn't wait for their daily fix of the 'Live to Ride...Ride to eat' post!!!
In a few years my wife and I will be retiring to Virginia, USA so I love reading all the ride threads with pics to get ideas of what to look forward to. And who knows, once over there I just might be looking at a new CB as we no longer get them over here......

It's different. Hard as a board but I did ride 40 min without the burning numbness I have with the stock seat. It's used off of EBay with an imitation Corbin backrest. Seat and backrest came out to $400. Wife and daughter insisted on some kind of sissy bar as they said they felt they could slide off the bike when riding on the back. So I solved two problems.

Now to try a longer ride....

Also the two tone colors ended up not bothering me all. I kind of like the looks of it.

I have a 1/2 closet full of liners that came with my jackets.. Tourmaster, Cortech, Fox Creek, Teknic, X Element, as I never use the liners that come with the coats. I have other gear I wear under my coats which works better for me. I find the coat liners a pia to take in and out, and being a layering kinda guy they just don't work for me.

Anyone else not use the liners that come with their coats?

This custom CBX is really different. Would love to see a video and hear those 6 pipes.

I previously posted about a front end vibration problem with my 2017 EX. The original dealer I took it to TWICE, whom I purchased the bike from new out of the crate, and does not have a Honda trained and certified mechanic, tried to make the symptom go away without fixing the problem and basically told me I was imagining the problem. You can read back through my original thread if you want to see what they did, or said they did. Lesson learned number one: use a dealer that has a Honda factory trained and certified mechanic. I took my bike to a second dealer that has a factory trained mechanic. The standard CB1100 has cast wheels, so a front end vibration problem is probably going to be caused by an improperly mounted tire, tire out of round and/or flat spot/s, wheel assembly out of balance, defective or damaged front wheel bearing from over torque of the front axle bolt during set up, steering head bearings improperly torqued, or a combination. That said, my EX has spoke wheels, so wheel out of true or out of round is thrown into the mix of possibilities. This second dealer pulled my front wheel and put the wheel assembly on a high speed wheel balancing machine. The assembly was found to be out of round, so next the tire was removed, and the rim spun at speed without tire. The rim was out of round by roughly 1/8" whereas spec run out is about 1mm! To my knowledge all spoke rims are hand trued, as I do not know of any machine that will true a spoke rim. At the moment, I do not know if Honda will tell the dealer to true the rim, or authorize a new rim. I told the dealer that after all I had been through with a brand new bike, I wanted a new rim, but we shall see. In any case it has been my experience over all the years, that Honda motorcycles just do not have any front end vibration, and if vibration ( some have described it as a rhythmic vibration ) is felt, something is wrong that needs to be addressed, and should be addressed before the factory warranty expires. For clarification, I am not talking about a slight buzz felt in the grips, I am talking about an up/down front end vibration, and in my case was enough to shake my arms at 40 mph.
