  forward & lowered controls
Posted by: reinie_imp - 11-03-2017, 09:49 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Just wondering if there are any other long legged riders out there who have moved the rider pegs and foot controls lower and forward on a CB1100. It looks like an old style shift lever could go directly onto the shifter shaft on the left-hand side.

  didn't get to ride today
Posted by: the Ferret - 11-03-2017, 07:39 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (41)

First day I've missed since the day Offroad and I trailered bikes back from visiting LongRanger in Colorado in mid July.

Last night my ankle started hurting. Had a fitful night with increasing pain, and when I woke up this morning I could not bear any weight on it .... at all. I knew what it was, gout. I've had it in that ankle before, earlier this year as a matter of fact. Caused me a trip to the emergency room that time. Kept me off the bike for 2 days last time. Good night it hurts. Luckily I had medication on hand to take care of it this time, and it is getting better already. Not full weight bearing, but can walk with a cane. Earlier this year when I had it, I saw a specialist who did a test and she said I was borderline high on Uric acid in my system, which causes gout. She didn't advise taking any preventative medicine unless you have 4 or more episodes in a year. Holy cow, who could go through this pain multiple times each year? Never had it twice in one year before, then again, it's been that kind of year for me. I think I had it once in 2010, once in 2013 and once in 2015, all in a big toe those times. The ankle thing is new. I'd prefer it went back to the toe lol.

Probably won't get to ride tomorrow either. Should be able to ride again Sunday I figure. Forced days off the bike is not my idea of fun.

  Windshield Recommendation
Posted by: jdinaz_imp - 11-01-2017, 06:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (13)

I'm looking for a windshield that doesn't put all the wind right on my helmet. Probably need one about 20 inches tall. I had one of the Spitfires that was 16 inches and it was like riding in a hurricane. Was much better with out it. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks !

  T100...T120...or nothing?
Posted by: glenridgerich_imp - 11-01-2017, 03:59 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (7)

Awright fellers...I got that bug again...Thinking of a Triumph. My first priority...I like a refined, very well built bike (which is a big part of the reason I love my CB1100) and in my view the only other bike out there that fits this criteria is the Triumph. That said, if I take the plunge, which model should I buy and why...Were talkin T100 OR T120 here. Thanks in advance for your input as I will certainly consider your opinions and experience. ***As an aside, I'm psyched about the Kawi Z900RS...but afraid it won't live up from a refinement perspective...I went and sat on a Z900 (sport bike version) recently it felt like it was made out of cheap sh*@&#^T plastic pieces. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

  EX Vs RS views?
Posted by: Beerman_imp - 11-01-2017, 03:29 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I joined this forum a good while back when looking at the 2013 CB1100. At that time I decided, rightly I think, that it was too heavy, and bought a Guzzi V711 Special.

The V7 is a really good bike. Time moves on though, and I am now much more comfortable with the idea of a 250kg bike than I was then, and I still think the CB1100 is a great looking bike.

So...I am now considering a new EX or a new RS. Are there any contributors who have experience of the RS and how it rides - there isn't a great deal of comparison beyond a couple of articles in Visordown etc. but what there is would tell me that the EX might be a better handling bike, but the RS has the looks (if you like the brasher, sportier look).

I found some really good advice on this forum last time round, and any advice would be appreciated.

Pics of my new 14 finally
Posted by: greekcb_imp - 10-30-2017, 09:46 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (13)

Hey guys , I’ve had my brand new 14 for about 6 weeks now , did a few mods and got enough miles in before the riding season is over here in Illinois , was able to do break in oil etc , only thing missing in there is the arrow exhaust . I have the Corbin gunfighter with all the cool red stitching etc , dart flyscreen , RLETs , SW Motech engine guards , and my homemade license bracket to eliminate the ugly stocker with reflectors
