What do you think of the '17 EX tank design?

Love it? Hate it? I could live with it? Ambivalent?

Well, this all looks very familiar. Another episode of the Marquez and Dovioso show with another last corner corner attempt by Marc ably fought off again by Dovi. Pedrosa and Zarco started strong - Dani faded early and Zarco dropping from the lead late. Rossi and Vinales looked impressive.

Bein Sports did much different job with the telecast. Got a highlight reel version of Moto3 and Moto2 with much of the middle of the races cut out. The main event started from the grid with little preamble. No big bother - just different.

31 degrees when I took off this morning but the sun wa shining and it was forecast to be a beautiful day. I had to ride early since the first race of the MotoGP season would be on early this afternoon. Hadn't gone 200 yards when I spot a big black blob in the middle of the road ahead. At first I thought it was a pedestrian but it didn't look right. What the heck is that?



Turns out it was a big tom turkey strutting in the middle of the road. He folded up and exited stage right as I approached.



later on about 3/4 of the way thru my ride I pull into a gas station. I pull up to a pump and look over at the next pump and there is a young girl, I imagine in her early 20's sitting in her car playing with her phone while it is filling up. She's wearing a head to toe Giraffe patterned one piece outfit, complete with the little horns on top of her head. She has a cat in her lap, and her seat cushions are zebra striped. Really? Pretty soon the pump kicks off and she gets out to hang it up and close her gas lid. Her outfit looks even worse when she is standing up outside the car lol. Maybe she's headed to a costume party early on a Sunday morning. Oh well, it takes all kinds.



Later on I'm following an older couple going 30 in a 55 on one of my favorite curvy roads. Frustrating. But then a herd of deer decide to cross the road 100 yards in front of them. They slam on their brakes as the first 2 of 5 deer make it across. The other 3 deer stop. I can see the old woman in the car waving her hand/arm signalling for the remaining deer to go ahead and cross (like the deer knew what she was meaning lol). Instead the deer turned and headed back into the woods, and the car eventually continued on at it's agonizingly slow pace braking for every little bend in the road. This only went on for 4 miles before they turned off on a side road, and I was able to wick up the pace and continue on.

Beautiful day for a ride, but turns out an unusual one lol

A lady got out of her car and forgot to put it in park. It rolled about a 100 yards crossing main street and then down GE Patterson until it ran over my bike and my friends bike. We were able to pull his out from under, buy mine was crushed.

Not sure if this can be repaired, or if I can even find a new one that is just like the 2014. I bought it new last August and only had 2,700 miles on it.

If I can't get a replacement, any other bikes folks would recommend.

You may already know that there is a fault with a batch of oil filters that have a nut on the front of the filter designed to unscrew the used cartridge.

There are several instances where the nut has given way and caused oil to flow out of the filter.

I understand k&n have acknowledged this but it may be of benefit to the riders to be aware of this defect.

I can't find much adjustment in the retaining bolt to lower the pedal. My inseam is 34 inches so the angle of my foot on the peg means my toes are pointed further down than a rider with a shorter inseam. So I must keep my right foot in a "duck" position to avoid accidentally stepping on the brake pedal. Over and over. I'd rather not have to do this.

Has anyone found a way to get more adjustability than the small amount to be gained through the typical adjustment?

Well I mowed my yard before my first ride of the year, but today made up for that. What a great day riding in the Northwest GA mountains and Northeast AL...a perfect 200+ miles in mid 70s weather.

My riding jacket is a Joe Rocket Resistor, textile and mesh hybrid, with CE level 1 armor in the shoulders elbows and fore arms. I added a Forcefield CE level 2 back protector to replace the back pad the jacket came with. Here is the rub with a lot of jackets these days, they either do not come with a liner, the liner is a vest style, or it is a thin rain liner. I suppose this is a manufacturer cost cutter, or the intent may be to get riders to buy different jackets for different temperature ranges...who knows. My jacket came with a zip in/out quilted liner. I contacted Joe Rocket to see if I could buy a rain liner, and a long sleeve quilted liner for my jacket, and guess what...they do not sell liners separately. Finding a rain liner on EBay was easy, as there always a bunch of them for sale, but the long sleeve quilted liner was a long hunt. I finally found one, and now I can use my jacket without liner, with the rain liner, with the zip in quilted vest liner, or the long sleeve quilted zip in liner. The result is one jacket for all temps except when it is really cold, and in that case I probably wouldn't be in a riding mood anyway. I imagine the same could be done with most brands, and with a little luck, a brand A liner may still zip into a brand B jacket because I would bet a large percentage are all made in the same factories. I just found a size Large long sleeve quilted zip in Joe Rocket liner on EBay for real reasonable. If anyone needs or wants this kind of liner, the EBay auction number is 202251657208 . As hard as they are to find, I dont think it will be available for very long. No, that liner is not mine or anyone I know, just putting it out there for some other member that might need or want one.

I rode the CB to work yesterday as we're having great weather here in FL. No issues on the way in, but upon leaving work, I noticed the clock had reset, the trip meter had reset, and the blinkers no longer worked. All of these items worked on the ride in to work.

Also, I noticed that when turning off the bike, the needles did not drop to zero, and the RPM gauge was stuck around 1100RPMs.

Any ideas as to what might cause this? Has anyone seen this behavior before? The bike runs smoothly and exhibits no other issues.

Here are some shots from today’s ride. The loop highlighted in blue is around 165 miles, and passes through some absolutely stunning Arkansas scenery. I was not able to get any pictures of the canyons that really would have done them justice, it truly is something you have to see firsthand. That, and I was having WAY too much fun carving up these roads to pull over and pull my phone out, lol. Anyway, 350 miles all in all for the day. My back is sore, my tummy needs beer, but I’d do it all again tomorrow in a heartbeat.
