Footer format has been corrected. A signature line separates the post from the signature.

Rattle on right side exhaust / battery
Posted by: CB1100i_imp - 04-17-2025, 08:01 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (4)

Hey guys I have a couple questions hopefully someone has some sort of input.

I noticed last year I started to get some sort of rattle within the right side of my exhaust. I first noticed this after a good 90 minute ride. Came home wanted to hear the bike after a longer ride so revved to around 3000ish rpm. I can’t remember if it’s the acceleration or deceleration that caused some sort of rattle on the right side alone.

First thought was perhaps something got in there, was put in there, baffle is wearing down, or even broken. I tightened up my clamps / heat shields but still the problem persists.

Spoke with a mechanic while buying fork oil for a different bike, he said start by taking the mufflers off. If the sound continues then you know it’s not the muffler. I will be doing this hopefully in a few here. Thought my battery was good and charged but couldn’t get the bike to start.

After fully charging it and testing with a multimeter I’m getting a reading of 12.39 which is I remember correctly is a battery on its way out. I did purchase the OEM yausa? Been a few years since I’ve had it but now they’re around 160-200.

Anyone have any battery recommendations? Or would you even change the battery yet? I know everyone has their own opinion. Looking for something fresh. Buy one from farm and fleet, get OEM, go Amazon. Too much to choose from.

What are your thoughts on the exhaust? I noticed I can’t remove the baffles? I have no idea what the next step is besides getting it started and checking to see if the noise happens when cold.

Side note - I have yet to go for a ride this year. Battery was apparently too dead to start so took it inside for a charge before putting on the bike.
Apologies for the long winded post. Hoping to get some help here

  Suggestion: signature
Posted by: Cormanus - 04-16-2025, 12:39 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (12)

Is it possible to distinguish a member's signature from the post in which it appears. For example, on the previous forum there is a line break then a couple of underscored characters before the signature. There is an example in this post.

  Suggestion: post last modified

Is it possible to move the information line which says Post last modified by from the top of the post to the bottom perhaps right aligned and in a size smaller font?

Please see the attachment. Text is not wrapping cleanly. This is an issue on my phone and tablet.

I am unable to upload .pdf files to the forum. The file appears to load but the option to attach it to the post does not. Nor does the file appear in any list of my attachments.

Uploading pictures is possible.

  Data Migration
Posted by: rdprdp01 - 04-16-2025, 10:26 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (11)

I have been working closely with Mostafa about data migration options. Here is where we landed. Before I spend the money to make it happen, I need your guidance and direction. It is only worth doing if you see that it will yield a return for the Members:

We can “screen scrap” the first post of every thread on the prior Forum. That scrape will include all texts and graphics from the initial post but none of the responses. We can organize each Thread by year under a single user (Archive). We can insert “Archive” at the beginning of the scraped threat to denote that it came from cb1100forum.com. Because the old site is unstable, it will take several days to complete the port but it will finish. Please provide your thoughts and opinions about this option in this thread so everyone can have the benefit of your insights.

If you find this option lacking, I can manually port over all Posts for specific threads manually, but I can do only so much during the course of the week. You could join me, too, but I assure you the content is interesting but the process is tedious. Smile

What is best for the future of this Forum? Please advise.

  Feedback Welcomed
Posted by: rdprdp01 - 04-16-2025, 10:19 AM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (62)

Please post your suggestions on this Forum. It will be easier for me to manage if you post one suggestion per thread.

When you post a suggestion, I will do the analysis and determine if it is doable or not and how much it will cost if there is an incremental charge.

Once a month, I will post a summary of the suggestions received and vetted then ask the Members to provide feedback. I am more interested in being a supporter of the Forum than its owner, even if I am paying the bills. Because I own a company and have other commitments, I need to balance enhancements with an already difficult schedule. I will try to fix any bugs you flag upon demand, but enhancements or new features will need to follow a formal development process. I do not want to break a good base which you have helped create.

It is our Forum, not mine. Your voice matters and it is pleasure to be of service to a good crew.
