  Two Davids Go West
Posted by: DAC - 08-13-2020, 10:21 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Hey everyone,

An old friend (some of you met Dave at the last East Coast Rally) and I are heading out west the Sunday before Labor Day for a two week trip. Staying roughly on the eastern side of the continental divide. We'll head out from Ohio and try to make Rapid City in two days.

We'll ride around for a couple days in that area and then we'll head over to northern Wyoming, probably staying in Red Lodge MT. Ride some there for a couple days and then down to Jackson for a couple days.

From there down into CO for a couple days finishing in Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak. Then hauling home trying to get back by around September 20.

I'll try to post here as we go along and if we can meet anyone for a ride, let me know.

  Trip Meter operation
Posted by: LakeWylieJoe_imp - 08-13-2020, 07:46 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (24)

I recently returned from a nearly 2,000mi solo ride through the mountains of Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana and Nevada on my 2014 Standard. I reset Trip Meter B before leaving, and it now reads 1,975.8mi when back in the garage. I turned the key to On the other day to look at the total fuel consumed and average fuel economy for Trip B. They both show blanks. I know when I'm riding, these will show values when selected.

Does anyone know why these don't display without the engine running?

hello all,
I just picked up a very nice 2013 CB1100. This bike is my dream, and a fantastic upgrade from my 1980 Cb400 Hawk, although I still have a lot of fun on the old bike.

I am wondering if any more experienced riders/ owners have any suggestions for me.
I want to add a few things to my bike to make it capable of weekend getaways and longer leisure rides.

I'm looking to add:
a very chopper style sissy bar
Corbin Gunfighter & lady seat
engine crash bars, looking at the SW0-Motech but I'm not sold on any brand yet as they have some mixed reviews.
Road Comet Wind faring, or equivalent quality

Any input is appreciated. I am also new to using forums so thanks in advanced.

Cheers,
J.W.

Another Driving Light thread (Black Oak LED)
Posted by: bflint - 08-12-2020, 02:35 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (10)

I finally found a driving/spot light to use on the dark roads when riding xcountry. I previously tried two DENALI D2 2.0 LED (Cree XPL HI, 2190 Lumens, 525ft beam) at $250 which failed to be any better than my PIA H4 Extreme headlight. I purchased the Black Oak Light Pod (Cree XM-L2, 3120 lumen, 700 meter beam) at $110 and mounted to my mirror with Ram mounts. Its awesome, plus only need to put in on the RAM mount if riding at night -and- i can use that mount for my GoPro during day. In practice it only illuminates the road for 300ft, about twice as far as my headlight, but it is crisp illumination, not the faint lighting like my Denali. Will try to get some night pics to add to this.

A friend of mine had me go look at an '03 V-Star 650 a few months back that he purchased to get back into riding. He is thrilled with being back on the road and the V-Star has been a good bike for him to get his feet wet. He is planning a epic ride next year with the destination being his friends vineyard in Oregon but pretty much circling the country and as much as he likes the 650 he is thinking a little more bike would be worthy of having on this 6k mile 6 monthish journey. He just sent me this. I know nothing about Harley's. Anyone have any input on this particular model?

Talk me out of a GoPro Session
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 08-12-2020, 03:13 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - No Replies

Hi all,

A while back, I bought a Polaroid Cube in an attempt to make a rudimentary camera to record my commutes in case I need video evidence. I couldn't find one that worked, and returned the two that Amazon sent me.

I decided to up my budget from $30 to $80, going rate for a used GoPro Session on Ebay. The Session 5 is better, but I'm not looking to do moto Vlogging, just record my rides.

Anyone using a standard Session? If so, want to try to talk me out of it?

My wife and I are hooked on Itchy Boots right now, so the idea of recording my rides has popped back into my head...

Just for interests, really, an Australian outfit, [url=https://www.motocap.com.au/]MotoCap, reviews gear for safety and comfort. So far they've reviewed a number of jackets, pants and gloves.

  Left-Right OEM mirrors

Is the stock Honda mirror for 2017 CB1100 RS the same part number for both sides, or is there a separate left and right mirror?

  Fatbars

I’ve just got a CB 1100rs and I’ve fallen madly in love. I would like to change the bars to a set of renthal fatbars but I’m wondering can I do this without changing cables and such, if I do it sounds like it would be too much expense. If anyone has any information it would be appreciated.
