While vacationing in sunny FL last week (before returning to 10 deg F MD Saturday) I saw this rig while heading into Daytona Beach.  The funny part is, I saw him again 2+ hrs later after leaving town, and he had a cartop carrier somehow attached to the platform, oriented vertically on its side.  I wasn't able to get a photo that time since we passed head-on.  So now I know that flatbed utility sidecars are a thing.

I already liked my VTX1300S because of its wide fenders and the Kawasaki VN Drifter 800/1500.

Despite what the Euro 5 Emission Advocates may believe, the CB1100 deserves much respect. A case can be made that emissions are not the only consideration when you evaluating a motorcycle that could easily last 250,000 miles and 50 years with only basic maintenance. Our motorcycles iare more "green" than what an exhaust test might indicate.

For a relatively modest investment, it is possible to equip a home shop with the tools necessary to maintain a CB1100 with confidence. For whatever it is worth, here is what I have acquired along the way.

Good afternoon. I have been experiencing an issue with the start button not triggering and wanted to get y'all's takes and see if anyone else has experienced it. I'm handy enough to manage basic maintenance, but electrical is a bit intimidating for me. It's only happened three times so I don't now that I can isolate a pattern or cause. I'll tell you what I know and maybe we can figure it out together?

In all three cases when I turn the key, the electrical turns on, the gauges light up, the dials swing and settle into natural. I then push the button to start and nothing happens: it doesn't click or whir or try to turn over. Simply nothing.

In all three cases I was not starting from cold. Twice I had gotten to my destination, left the bike for 30 minutes or so, and then experienced the fault trying to start it back up. In one case I had turned the bike on, moved it only about 30 feet, turned it off for 1-2 minutes, and then experienced the fault trying to start it again.

Sometimes when I turn the key to the "on" position the bike makes an electrical whir as the electronics kick on (the fuel pump maybe?). That didn't happen any of the times I experienced a fault. Maybe because the bike is already warm? I would have to trouble-shoot more to figure out when exactly that happens and if it matters.

In all three cases I let the bike sit for 5-10 minutes, intermittently kicking the kick-stand up and down, flipping the kill switch on and off, and pushing it in and out of neutral. Eventually it started back up.

On two of the times I remember hearing a slight electronic *click* the last time turning the key back to the "on" position before the successful start.

When it does successfully start it doesn't chug or struggle at all. Starts up clean

Have any of you experienced this on your CBs or other bikes? Or does this sounds like something you know and can diagnose? Any ideas for tests or troubleshooting?

been searching quite a bit did honda ever have a brochure for oem accessories for the 13 14 17 ? im talking the oem rack grips lock etc would be nice to have a complete list of all the honda accessories??

Tonight, Mrs. G and I went to the traveling “Triumph Unleashed 2026 Tour” that was passing through our local Triumph dealer. Lots of cool people, free snacks and drinks, why not!

We hung out with the head organizer for the Los Angeles Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, a very nice gentleman himself. I’ve ridden the Orange County DGR for the past few years, but I think he’s convinced me to do the L.A. ride this year. I also met the head of the local 59 Club, and I might try some rides with them. They seem like a cool group of guys.

They also did an “unveiling” of theee new Triumph models. First was the Trident 800. I have to say I was a bit smitten. And if you find a bike that matches yours, you need to get one, right? Red with black and silver trim stripes on the tank… just like a 2013 CB1100…

They also showed off the latest versions of the 400 single, the Thruxton and the Tracker.

A pretty cool scene!
